Laguna Gas BBQ (2 Burner Barbecue With Side Burner) £59 @ B&Q

Found 9th May 2014
Quite obviously at the budget end of gas barbecues and not claiming any amazing cooking abilities or authentic coal bbq tastes but this seems like a great deal on a 2+1 burner gas bbq which comes with hose/regulator, warming rack, push button ignition, 2 year warranty/guarantee, etc.

At the time of writing it is out of stock online but I phoned my local B&Q (Southend) who told me there were 4 in stock so I went down and picked one up.

Heat the Hottie

A few good reviews too. Nice find OP.

Thanks! The reviews are all good with a few complaining about build time but I can't see this is any different from any other BBQ of this type. I'm still waiting for a nice weekend so I can give the official taste test but this is similar to my previous barbecue which lasted a good 5 years and "did the job" for small family and friend bbqs over the summer.

bought this at the weekend, took me nearly 2hrs to build and im usually quite speedy at stuff like that!
cant grumble for the price though and is quite sturdy unlike other low price bbq's

I got this in spring for £29 in the sale , so it's cold for me . Not built it yet as it's still freezing , so can't comment on build times

idiot.

Bought this last year used a number of times. Really good.

Out of stock

Got this about 4-5 years ago at £100. Good sturdy bbq but like other have said, not top end of bbq range, but well worth it at that price. Just a word of note, if you buy this you will notice that the main plate doesn't spread the heat quite evenly, more so around the edges where the heat can escape. I just used a screwdriver to wedge open the heat escape flaps a little, but none the less still a great buy.

bought this for £89 last year as an entry to a gas bbq (want sure I'd like it)..and apart from taking a couple of hours to build it, it works really well. heat.

good idea , only used it once and it seemed to cook more at the back, i just assumed it was because of the wind so might pry them open see if it evens it out

It still shows as out of stock online but the option to "Add for delivery" has lit up so guessing it can now be ordered. Also showing as FREE delivery but I've not fully completed the checkout so can't confirm this. I live a 5 min drive from my local B&Q hence I just phoned up, checked stock and then popped down to get it.

got one from b and q new Malden. 5 left. thanks. now to find the gas bottle!

Rang my local store after ordering this online on sat. They've confirmed there were website issues sat so suggest you ring your local store if ordered online. We're collecting ours now from our local store this morning .

Finally got round to building this last night. Was a 2.5hr build for me and I'm pretty competent with these kind of things. Wasn't difficult, just lengthy!

It seems a pretty solid piece of kit, not flimsy and nothing felt cheap. I would say this is on par with any of the other 2+1 gas barbecues that are nearer the £100 mark. Definitely a bargain for me.

Weather is looking quite nice for the weekend so potentially time for the taste test!

thanks just ordered for home delivery

As per my original description, it seems to constantly be out of stock online but I've not heard of any stock issues in store at the moment.

As I write this reply it does still show as out of stock online but the button to "Add for Delivery" option has lit up again and it does seem to go into my basket with free delivery as an option. Might be worth a go but this happened a few days ago and disappeared quite soon after seeing it.

No, it has a "vapouriser bar" instead of a lava rock requirement.

cheers - thanks Steve

Loads in stock at Trafford Park Manchester store.

BBQ got it's first outing on Saturday and was very impressed. So much so it had its second outing on the Sunday!

Instructions say to put it on full heat for 5 mins to warm up and then to put on the lowest setting to cook. I found that it had to be 3/4 to full throughout cooking to provide enough heat to do the job.

thanks op, just the job

In terms of space, will this take the larger 13kg Calor gas bottle, or would the 6kg only fit?

Original Poster

I'm not sure if the larger bottle will fit underneath. I have the green "patio gas" bottle which is pretty small and fits no problem although I don't put it under anyway due to instruction manual advising against this. The pipe has enough slack to reach outside the BBQ frame so any size bottle should be able to be used (just not stored underneath).

These will be fine once you get the hang of them and keep the lid closed i had an old Texas one for years till it rusted through.

found a Webber classic customer return for £50 different league but £300 buys a lot of beer and steak so would never have got one full price.

How does this compare to the landmann one aldi are selling?

Original Poster

The one I've seen on the Aldi website is £10 cheaper than this but this seems to be the only plus point.

Paying the extra £10 for the B&Q one gives you a larger cooking area on its bigger grill, a warming rack, a side burner, bigger side table with bar to hang utensils on. Plus it is the standard price whereas the Aldi one seems to only be available at that price today.

IMO the Aldi one looks it price (i.e. a cheap £49 BBQ) whereas the B&Q is obviously still cheap at £59 but looks and feels more expensive than it is. Probably nothing wrong with the Aldi one but £10 more gets you a lot more BBQ!

Went to newark store, sold out. But the kind lady reserved the last one for me in Grantham

Pretty disappointed with mine tbh... trying to cook anything on the front half of the rack is a complete waste of time (you can nearly place your hand on the front half, the heats that weak and that's on full flame!) Might try prising the vents open, then if not much better, will return it.

To use the larger bottle you would need to position the bottle at the side or behind the BBQ, or remove the shelf and it'll sit underneath this makes the BBQ less sturdy though.

agreed is very weak on the right side on mine! think I'll pay a bit more and get a decent one!
