This is the best Laila rice. Some might say that Tesco have them on offer all the time but there is a big difference between them.

Here. Have some heat

what's the difference between this and tesco's one? both are Laila rice and i guess both are same.
Tesco's offer laila 5kg = £5

My local morrisons had 5kg for £6.50!!! Why do stores in different locations have different prices!!

These are different because I have tried both. These are mature basmati rice and the Tesco ones are from a new crop( well thats my judgement anyway). This offer is nationwide because I saw it on TV

My Tesco pack I got last week is definitely 4kg I just checked. The price I can't remember for sure but I reckon it was £5

What's the difference oO

How does this compare to Uncle Ben's microwavable rice?

How does this compare to Tilda Basmati?

If you want quality, just go for Tilda. Absolutely no comparison with any other brands.

We just love the divine basmati aroma of Tilda which can't be had with Laila.

NO way, Tilda is over rated massive flop, their grains break easily resulting in poorly cooked outcome of broken rice, they been using old stock recently, Pearly is far far superior.

you have to llok closely at the quality of the grain, some of the grains have been stored for too long and have miscolouring resulting in broken grains when being cooked, i know it sounds daft but trust makes a massive difference. Laila is just another Brand, which is irrelevant, its the quality of the Basmati grain which is more important and even Tilda is producing poor quality grain now.

Massive flop?? You must be really kidding.

I'd suggest you change your grocer who must be selling you some other basmati instead of Tilda.

We bought badhshah once and it was bloody awful, results were all mushy instead of individual grains. Apparently my mother in law has told mrs there are different ways to cook the rice and if its coming out mushy she has to do the alternate cooking method (think theres differences in the washing process and the amount of water used between the two cooking methods, couldnt say myself as when I was single I would cheat and use the microwave)

Conversely we tend to buy a fair bit of laila (amongst other brands) and its always pretty good.

Tilda is very nice but this is better then Tilda.

Boycott Tesco & shop in Morrisons

True, bigirthy boycott Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury

Tlida is not what it was. We buy a box with 6 x 2Kg bags of Badshah from the cash and carry.
Veetee's Rozana was good, but they stopped selling it.
When we treated ourselves to the 2.5x more expensive Tilda, it had little mature flavour and aroma.
I might try this leila next time (already have ~7 Kg at home), we have seen in in the cash and carry.

My wife's family owns a long-grain rice factory in Gilan and what she doesn't know about rice isn't worth knowing and she rates the Badshah. The very cheap ones are from a mixture or sources and grain sizes and so not all grains cook the same.
