Thought this looked good value for money for a 2 night break away to the Lake District - £109 (£54.50 pp) especially as the offer includes dates throughout the summer months

Tucked away in the "beautiful and tranquil Winster Valley" (The AA) is the Brown Horse Inn, a 19th-century coaching inn. You can now get a 2-night mini break to the Lake District for £109, saving up to 52% on the usual price.

The Brown Horse Inn has excellent reviews across the various review sites & at Travelzoo

  • A 10% discount on dinner in the hotel restaurant on both evenings (food only)

More info about the hotel and surrounding area

  • Set in the scenic Winster Valley, The Brown Horse Inn is "an inn of many talents", says The AA -- behind its rustic exterior is "subtly modern" decor, and "innovative" food
  • Listed in The Michelin Guide 2018 and shortlisted in the Cumbria Food & Drink Awards 2017, the hotel is almost self-sufficient, specialising in home-grown produce and hand-pulled ale from its on-site brewery
  • You can sample some of the local outdoor pursuits, including sailing, fishing, horse-riding, cycling and rambling, or hunker down in front of a log fire in the cosy oak-beamed bar
  • The hotel is less than 10 minutes' drive from Bowness-on-Windermere, and around 20 minutes by car from the Lake District hot spots of Ambleside and Kendal

I do get easily spooked, so have a bit of a phobia about "17th/18th/19th century inn's" This place is modern, clean, and well managed, Far better than any Premier Inn I've stayed at

Haha
Oddly enough it rarely smells of horse crap up here, we dont really have farms to grow stuff. Its potatoes or sheep, maybe the odd rapeseed field, or a few cows.

Either way its a still a bit dodgy with Sellafield on the doorstep. Loads of places still aren't really allowed to sell stuff due to windscale disaster.

Anyhow this topic isnt about sellafield and its incompetentcy which are mainly ex pounland, b&m, home bargains employees etc.
Shabby Chic meaning its full of painted second hand crap. No thanks.
I've stayed here before and it's absolutely lovely. Tasteful décor, great location and the food in the restaurant is top notch!
No info on children. Can you add them to the reservation?
Any idea if dogs are allowed?
Stayed there last week. Well worth the money. Lovely small hotel / pub, nice quiet en suite rooms with very friendly staff.
Rooms are adequate with king size bed, small TV, wardobe and hair dryer. Beautiful views out of the windows too.
You get a wholesome breakfast free, tho be careful with the toaster!
We took our mountain bikes, and found a couple of decent rides. (20 miles)
Its only 5 minutes drive to Bowness, and another 5 mins up to Windermere town centre.
