Just bought and called up. The hotel transfers were going to cost £140 on top (it's a long trip from the airport to Lake Garda), plus the flights were an extra £35 on top - so really this was going to cost at least double this price.

Wasted an hour on this - although they were super helpful and trying to make it work, be prepared to pay much more than this."

Blighted by refugees!Even George Clooney is selling up. Beware!

They aren't that bad , Ready or not and Killing me softly were both very popular songs in the early 1990s...

Probably not as bad as being blighted by drunken Brits.

P.S. I am a Brit.
"Min. 2 people per booking (prices displayed are per person only)"

So really it's 2 nights for 2 for £158. Misleading and not very helpful for singletons like myself =/

Have you actually been there recently? I went in June, there are a lot selling stuff, but they aren't trouble and easily ignored.
You get more trouble trying to walk down the street in Morocco from local merchants than refugees in Italy.

Title should state pp (per person), but the minimum 2 per booking, or something like "price based on..." is standard with most holiday offers.
Come on OP....amend the post to reflect true price
never used go groupie, how does it work, if you from Nottingham is it best from Manchester or London, what. fly times like
Yeah not good for single me either... Are there every any "single" deals?
But the pool would be awesome....

I say this on every Gogroopie deal but usually get told i'm being ridiculous and that displaying the price PP is how it should be done even though you cant pay that price...

I didn't realise seems quite a lot for transfers. Is the £35 extra flights for better times?

Maybe - the original flights suggested got in 11.30pm (to the airport) the first night and left 7am the last day so we're completely unsuitable for the holiday.

All the other suggested flights were an extra £35pp.
Went to lake Garda in may. not sure if id like it in winter if it was raining.
There was only 1 person trying to sell stuff when we were there, and that was in Bardolino.
Venice was the worst for beggers / folks trying to flog stuff.

We were in Venice for a week in March, was surprised how few hawkers we encountered and only one person begging (i've seen a lot more in other parts of Italy).

However, whilst we started in San Marco (where there are a few hawkers), we picked a direction and spent most of our time away from there. We only really came back to San Marco in the evening when the Mrs liked to sit and listen to the Orchestra with a bottle of wine and a few snacks. I guess that prevented the hawkers from approaching us as the waiters seemed to be on guard (not just for hawkers but those taking a seat without buying something ).

Not been Garda in years and even then it was only a fleeting visit, but think I'll save it for spring/summer.

Might be worth pricing up a BA Holidays Fly/Drive or Fly/Hotel package. Been really competitive for us in the past.
Hmm temperatures between 6 and 11 in November, -1 and 6 in December. Can't wait to take a dip in the lake!

Venice was absolutely ruined for me with the number of people trying to sell stuff on the streets. Wish I had gone off peak, maybe there would be less of them around.

No it isnt blighted with refugees.I stayed at Lake Garda for 9 days (Riva del Garda) and I didnt see any.
TBH if it was blighted by refugees, I wouldn't be that bothered at helping a fellow human to survive and buy a bit of food.
If you are that desperate to escape a country because of whatever reason it must be bad, sometimes have time and listen. Yes you are on holiday and it's annoying but try to talk to people and hear their story.

Its a 15 minute bus ride cost of €6 from villafranca verona airport to verona bus / train station then a 30 minute train ride to desenzano del garda costing €4.40

Hardly a long trip!

Villafranca wasn't an option when I called - he said Milan or another airport around 1 hour drive away.
