Very useful
How wide is the gap between the flap and the wall? Wondering if you could get an Echo Dot in there.

Ah, it's 10mm - so no good for a Dot.

Why don’t you get some 3m removable wall sticks and stick the dot above the plug.
If you need it removable get the Velcro version they use on picture frames

I've actually tried those; they wouldn't stick to the underside of the Dot.
Google echo dot wall mount plug. £5 on ebay.
Nice idea!

Can you fit these behind a box mounted socket ? ie, most of our sockets are on pattress boxes !
39535740-LEyR5.jpg I appreciate that you could put the shelf at the front of the box, but that would look silly, and create a gap...
Thanks

Could you not just rest the device on top of the pattress box, therefore negating the whole point of the shelf and saving yourself 99p?

Looks a clever idea given that your sockets are high enough on the wall and not down behind the bedside cabinet like mine are. No use for version with a clock though. 🤪

Look up Sugru (even the own brand stuff from HK on eBay will do fine) - put a small lip on the box. One pack should do about 3 sockets.

Yes, no use for the clock one, got mine last year when I've got the Dot3 with no clock at that time.

Why not just leave the phone on a counter or hard surface ?

Because not all charging ports are near counters, unless you want to leave the phone on the floor which is not wise in households with accident prone people.
Another thing I don't really need.

Actually you could argue it's safer!
Electrical sockets have to be made out of a thermosetting plastic, when heated they become irreversibly rigid ie they don't burn/set alight but rather just char!
Not sure what these cheap phone shelves are made out of though!

Use it all the time for so many different things - even bought 50 packs for 10p each when Maplins closed down.

So many questions!

Why would it explode? Why would it being nearer an electrical socket make it more explodey? And when it does, why is it causing an electrical fire?!

Do you run a 20 foot line from a plug to charge your phone?
maxamus00730/12/2019 18:35

Because ours are in the kitchen, which are prone to spillages /liquids. Plus.... Its easier to clean the work surfaces if the phone is out of the way. Any more silly questions?

You could just clean the surfaces by lifting the phone or transferring the phone to a pocket.

First world problems.

I tend to use a 3m extension lead and then use my phone in one of those sciencey boxes from the films where you use rubber gloves inside the bullet proof Perspex

Definitely.

You can either screw it info the surface box by taking the socket out, or, you could take the whole box out and screw it behind if you have small enough screws that fit. Whichever you prefer.
Not really a deal. Always been this price. Purchased these over 5 months ago at this price. Ideal for phones/tablets though
