500lm for 15w is poor, I would rather buy a traditional one that takes a replaceable bulb as you will be left with no option other than returning for a refund if within warranty and swapping the entire unit if out of warranty, I have a 5 pack of 700?lm 9w ES lamps for my old lantern and I think they are something stupid like £3 for 5 at the moment (paid a tenner happily last year)

The only review from a sparky slated it as well.

I have also started to buy separate PIR's now as my old SF half lanterns PIR died after 8 years, I bypassed it as I never used the PIR for the front one so no biggy.
I have a main powered outdoor light but no PIR. Can i fit a PIR device as a replacement, do i have to just keep the switch on constantly and light then comes on with PIR or is it totally different wiring requiring a spark?

Yes, you wire up with existing wiring and leave the switch to on position. Then light will come on when PIR is triggered. Turn switch off and light will not work at all.

Great in theory buying a standalone PIR but at around a tenner a pop for anything half way decent, price prohibitive
Alot of the reduced lights are all sold out in stores close to myself.
