Never had this, ordered. The 10 is ok, but had a bottle of the 15 a few years ago when they were about 90 quid, the only "expensive" whisky ive ever bought (Should have kept it - these seem super expensive now!) and it was amazing.

In terms of Isla, it’s own profile. Impressive it’s got the output to keep up the demand without declining quality. If you weren’t sure about the ten, give this a go. It’s young but not harsh, it’s my default.

The Laphroaig 15 didn't used to much of a premium over Laphroaig 10 though and it was a magnitude better, peaty much smoother finish. I remember paying £33 for the 15 at Sainsbury's, back in the day when it was sold as a 'run of the mill' whisky, much like Dalwhinnie 15, i.e. alongside it. So good - never forgot that purchase. There were cases of it on offer at the time, must have been Christmas.

(Year on year, comparing prices throughout the year, the run up to Christmas is the best time to purchase Single Malts). The only other time, is end of shelf - around Easter, some half price offers, Tesco etc.

As a tip, it's worth exploring European supermarkets (France esp) for discontinued stock, We got two bottles of 16yo bottle of Orkney Scapa for 43 Euros each, Scapa had discontinued production and it was rare, but obviously the supermarket wasn't aware how expensive it had become. Still have one bottle.

I'm no whisky expert but dived on this as an alternative to the supermarket: thanks op and all commenters, very good stuff, probably my favourite ever (especially at this price)
