if its true it should get HOT!

Original Poster

Its definitely happening but been kept quiet till Monday so it doesn't kill weekend sales

All the i3/i5 laptops are waaay overpriced. Considering the deals posted on HUKD.

Edited by: "raysablade" 23rd Jan 2011

does this include ipads?

EE3E0E White (AMD Phenom II P340, 3GB, 320GB, 15.4", Windows 7 Home Premium)

- cheapest sony at 449 at the mo' at tesco

How is this hot with no proof?

Nothing at the bottom end to beat the ASDA £197 deal, only this Compaq @£240

Though i'm not impressed with the accuracy of their spec. sheets, as their data entry system seems to allow such obvious errors as this:

Memory Speed in Mhz PC2-6400 (800 MHz)Memory Type DDR3

and I call BS on this claim:

Screen Type OLED

Does any body have any experience with AMD processors in Laptops ...Looking to buy a laptop for my son who is head to Uni.

20% off is not VAT free

Well I hope this isn't a fake - not voted until it happens but will be investing if it does!

20% off is not VAT free

True, but it's not as catchy as "16.6 recurring percent off"

Start with £100. Add 10%. End up with £110.

Start with £110. Take away 10%. End up with?

But thats a netbook, isn't it ?
Hardly like with like.

garbage456

vat is 20%so 20% off is vat free effectively.

No it isn't.

For example, if the exvat price is £100, then the including VAT price would be £120
20% off £120 is £96.

vat is 20%so 20% off is vat free effectively.

I think you'll find 20% off is cheaper than "VAT free".

The fussy one in me wants to say that £300 becomes £250 (not £240): 250 + 20% = 300

20% off is not VAT free

Er...yes it is actually.
VAT is 20% (disgracefully) at the moment.
Its put ON final price. 20% OFF is leaving the price as it was prior to VAT being added.

No it isn't. 20% off the price with VAT includes 20% of the VAT also, which would bring it lower than the original price.

Wrong. 20% off the shelf price takes it below the price it was before VAT was added. So this deal is better than "VAT free"

£100 + 20% = £120
£120 - 20% = £96
If that makes it any easier

oh dear god math obsessed people... there is no need for this... i'm right you are wrong BS that is going on... is it a good deal? yes.... Thanks to the poster.... everyone having a go... cheer the hell up!

Nobody is having a go, just proving that it is not VAT off, to avoid further arguments.

Well I suspect the deal is actually VAT free rather than 20% off and the OP has made a mistake.

mumbojumbo

Has it been confirmed then?

Well what are you all getting so miffed about if it hasn't been confirmed?

So which one is it then? Do you get 20% off, or is it VAT-free? They are NOT one and the same thing, contrary to what some people here are saying. I'll have the 20% off thanks very much

weirdwilli

That's just starting another argument though. You see, I think it is likely to be VAT free and it's the 20% off statement that is wrong.

Badly phrased, I'll start again:
Nobody is having a go, just proving that if 20% off, this is not that same as VAT off, to avoid any further arguments.

mumbojumbo

What are you getting all excited about? (_;)

you know i'm not actually sure... i don't even need a new laptop.... i'm confused myself (_;)

This needs expired or moved.

Why do anti-pedants always assume pedants are miserable? The opposite is the case, pedants are never happier than when correcting someone. Is it because you feel miserable when you come across it because it makes you feel inadequate, and then project your own emotional state onto the pedant?
