Laptops at tesco - ex display cracking bargains to be found from as little as £125 INSTORE ONLY

picked up a sony vaio laptop 2ghz dual core T3100 ithink (not core 2 duo), 3gb ram, 250gb HD, 15.4" screen, firewire, bluetooth all the usual stuff for £225

there were dells n acers low n high specs ranging from £125 to £350 icluding a Acer aspire 7530 for 350 quid good deal but i bought the 6530 from their website instead of that cos of the graphics and blu ray capabilitys of the 6530 online

This was at the Dundee tesco (kingsway) i reckon all tesco extras will have some dont know about normal tescos tho

Oh no, I shall be clocking up the miles again!

Was in Leicester Beaumont Leys today, absolutely no signs of any special deals such as the Acer mentioned in another thread etc. etc. seems it is like limited to individual stores and managers discretion.

More chance of catching a wild goose in my local Tesco Extra.

this might help, they were all on a shelf next to their laptops, reduced to clear stickers everywhere, and on each box staff had written ex display or whatever

I picked up an Acer netbook today for £130 thats posted elsewhere on HUKD's and if the Tesco Homeplus store I went in is typical then they are selling off loads of digital cameras as well as laptops.

*gets a pen* ... reduced exdisplay laptops...at laptop section...reduced to clear stickers..exdisplay stickers..

got it thanks :w00t:

I was in there (Dundee) and was thinking of buying the 17" acer they had for £170

...but the specs were quite poor & it had its power lead missing

They also had a 5720 for £299

also spotted a few Canon IXUS 80's for £100, an iomega external 320GB (2.5" portable) HDD for £45

My local Tesco doesn't even stock basics such as coffee beans (too exotic I don't doubt). We never get to see any of these national deals and the petrol is 2p more expensive than Asda just 10 miles away just to show solidarity with the other two garages in the town. I asked at customer service why they had a poor selection of vegetarian offerings and they replied we don't get much call for it here! I wonder how many she had said that to? Maybe hundreds I don't expect to see any of these cheap laptops nor any full price ones either. (Rant over :)):x

It's a bit hit and miss with these laptops. One 24hrTesco exrta near me only stock 3 or 4 models, another extra 3 miles away has a full range, around 20 different models.

Please remember that when buying an ex-display laptop or netbook, your battery probably won't last very long.
The display models are plugged in to the mains constantly for such a long period that the battery becomes less efficient and holds much less charge than one that was new and looked after properly.

The laptop might seem cheap now, but bear in mind you'll probably be needing to buy a new battery for it soon.
When it comes to buying laptops and other forms of hardware, it's usually a safer option to pay more, but get it new.

probably a new screen as well. these are left on constantly so im sure the screen life has been reduced buy a couple of hundred hours.

the key is bigger stores, better chance

i live near a metro and true as mentioned in one of the above post we dont even have half the stuff which i would say is essential let alone laptops! my nearest extra is miles away!

dont know the situation as it stands, but usually whenever i visit these extra stores i am amazed at the range they have.

to be fair my local metro has applied for planning permission to expand, a number of times only to be turned down by my council - which are hopeless!

hi the laptops are not ex display, i work for tesco's and they are not allowed to sell display models, it is just a one off price blitz on certain electrical items
