Don't torture your chooks but give them a bit of room before you sadly have to wring their necks for the pot.

The Wentworth Chicken Coop

The Wentworth Chicken coop has a range of features over other inferior alternative coops making it excellent value for money. The Wentworth coop as been redesigned, the floor is now *under the pull out tray. Why, customer's feedback, this is an important safety feature stopping your birds coming to any harm while you clean the pull out tray, please note that most coops on ebay do not have a floor under the pull out tray, ask before you buy. The Wentworth chicken coop has a galvanized metal pull-out tray for very easy cleaning.

The wood swells up in the rain and there is a rush of red mites, run is tiny.

That would make a nice rabbit run as well.

Toddler prison for minor misdeameanours?

i prefer omlet eglu...more expensive but last years and are fox proof and red mite proof and have a better resale value than apple kit...unlike this

Surely red mite is just a spray with a bit of diluted bleach & problem gone for a few weeks?

Would be fantastic for rabbits just make sure they dont dig out.

They had loads of these exact coops (and some deluxe 'even trendier' models) at my local clearance auction house in the outside sale and they couldn't even raise £20 a piece for them. I was astounded as they were really excellent quality too. There was a really big, multi-levelled one painted in red and white like a dutch barn - it went for £18! The chicken wire probably cost more than that...

Amazing

Had one of these for three years now. They fit four bantams or two/ three large hens max.
Treat the wood with a preservative as you would all exterior wood furniture, sheds etc. Easy to keep clean and ideal for a starter set or spare coop. Stand on concrete or paving slabs to help keep the rodents out.
You can get red mite with any coop. Red mite are as prolific in Eglu's as in any other coop. Use the usual anti-mite sprays and powders or spot-on treatments if it gets really bad. I use Diatomaceous Earth and a quick squirt of Nippon ant powder in all of mine and have never had them.

True Gent there, others would try to cram in more - agreed there, lower numbers = more comfort for the birds.

YFC.

No, Omlet houses do not suffer red mite like wooden houses, I have the Eglu and Cube and have had many other wooden houses, none are as good or easy to clean as the Omlet ones. Red mite is extremely difficult to get rid of, I have tackled it in a wooden house I bought 2nd hand (never again), hence my Omlet houses, which I have NEVER had any problems with and have owned for 7yrs. I also have a huge walk in run and 12 very happy girls. With these houses you get what you pay for and a fox would certainly get its dinner from this one!
Hens need a 1m square each, you couldn't keep hens happily in this without an additional space, you would have sick birds.

Great, maybe more inconsiderate **** will buy these and spoil all their neighbours relaxing in their own gardens. I have one neighbour at the back with a barking dog that they never let in, and one with a fkn chicken coop. My garden is now out of bounds.

Hens don't make much noise.

I agree wholeheartedly about giving your hens space. If you do get one of these you'll need to let them out at least once a day for general health reasons alone.
Sorry have to disagree with you about Eglu's and mites. You only have to Google "mites in Eglu's" to see numerous forum posts about how mistaken you are. However they should be easier to eradicate once you've spotted them though. Mites can be a problem in any housing.
At three times the price is the Eglu really value for money? Greenfrog etc do better houses (imo) for around the same money if you're into plastic housing.
Either way, happy hen keeping

At a pinch you could use this for your parrot.

TheGent, are you talking from first hand experience? I am, I could find you many who would disagree about Omlet products and red mite, in addition to myself. Yes there certainly are those out there who are keen to rubbish the Omlet products, but they invariably have no first hand experience. There are no places to hid in the omlet houses so if you did have an outbreak (I never have), they are so much easier to eradicate, in fact everything is easier in the Cube, including resale prices!
This aside, spend a little more and get your hens a better house, or even a really good house a second hand Omlet house.

I got one of these worst coop I ever bought it is cheaply made and is not worth the money
