Decent stand for large plasma/lcd TV's

i was looking round for ages most are £100+ for this size

Plus IMO this is nicer than the glass ones.

If you are after a glass one they do them for about £30 which is ahell of a lot cheaper than other places

Have a look in this link

Because they are so cheap, you can also buy two and modify them so you have two levels...

Yeah you could do, they are very nice thick chunky wood, the black one is nice with a brownish sheen on it

Got mine yesterday only took 10 mins to put up, makes a nice change

Basematerial: Particleboard, Fibreboard, ABS plastic, Printed and embossed acrylic paint, Clear acrylic lacquer
Filling material: Paper
Side panel: Particleboard, Fibreboard, Foil, ABS plastic
Leg: Particleboard, Fibreboard, Foil

Wooden like Robert Mitchum maybe - but not wood!

I saw this (a SMALLER one) in a friends place. Looks like real wood

There's some good info on how to do this on avforums. I nearly did but couldn't quite get one in the colour I needed (rosewood).

Does look like real wood, but it is crappy chipboard/mdf type stuff

but for £35 you cant really complain

I have one with my 56inch HD RPTV sat on it, very well construted and strong TV stand. It easily held my weight and I am 15 stone

Got to be better than this one!

Almost a £9950 cheaper in fact... I love misprices!

I bought one not so long ago and even with the two supporting pillars in between the top and bottom the top started to sag after about a month with a 32inch lcd on top. I would say 'buyer beware' ;-)

To those who have got it, would it be OK to use as a coffee table? The rest of the Ikea coffee tables don't thrill me to be honest..

Thanks for the pointer Looks pretty good and sturdy :pirate:

It's probably around 350mm deep [just a guess] hokers, so would be quite slim for a coffee table.

I'm wanting to order 1 online, nearest Ikea is Bluewater for me and I don't drive,we go by bus so I couldn't bring something like that back on bus, anyone been able to order online as I get this message up

Hmm, wierd. My 56inch Sagem isn't exactly light but it hasn't sagged at all in the 9-10 months I have had it, the TV weighs about 36kg as well so it isn't exactly lightwieght. I have also stood and sat on the stand the day I built it, there was no creeking or movement of any kind and I am not exactly a small bloke. I wonder if they have changed the spec of the materials somewhat, it seems very odd that it can hold my 56inch TV for the best part of a year and yet your 32inch LCD caused it to sag after a few months. Lower quality fibreboard perhaps?

Yes it would work fine, it is very long though so make sure you measure up the space you want to place it in before you buy.

The ]Gillsby from IKEA is pretty sweet also - Have a 41KG panasonic plasma sitting on this glass unit and it goes really well with silver TV's - not bad for £40 and literally tales 5 mins to put together.
