Blimey. this is cheap.
My local bus costs more to travel 2 miles.
This DOES include hand baggage, their small size bag - plenty for a couple of days. (40x20x25cm) and of course a seat but for £2.99 you don't get to choose which one - however they all arrive at the same time.

Wrong... They overbook...and those who pay for seats get priority.

Maybe you are confusing them with EASYJET Ryanair DO NOT OVERBOOK SEATS I have used them hundreds of times (literally) and have never booked a seat. If you google it you will find THEY DO NOT OVERBOOK.

"DENIED BOARDING Ryanair, as a policy, does not overbook its flights."

I handled Ryanair flights for over 7 years daily working in an airport and never once did I see an overbooked flight in the whole time I worked there

Of course you are guaranteed a seat, it's just not your choice which one (and Ryanair don't overbook like many airlines)
Merci, chaud.

Rubbish. Ryanair does overbook seat. It happened to my few years ago. I have used them hundreds of times. Unfortunately we have no alternatives.

It could of course happen if a seat became unusable on a fully booked flight or for a reason like the one below

A spokesperson told the M.E.N. that Ryanair has a policy of not overbooking flights, but says the flight in question was full, with many large family groups on board.
Staff realised that one family was travelling with a child over two years old, rather than an infant as they had stated.
By law children over two must have their own seat, which meant the flight then had too many passengers for the number of seats.

No they don't, I've probably used them a hundred times over the last 10 years, I've never, ever, heard of any passenger being denied a seat because of overbooking on Ryanair.

One thing I do know, is that most of these stories don't stand up to scrutiny, often the person complaining didn't even book with Ryanair, and in reality the third party they booked their ticket through messed up.
If wrong I stand corrected.

Hot
My 0845 flight to Venice during Easter holiday was so empty we were spread to ensure balance of the aircraft that we were given 3 seats per passengers!
Bravo!

I agree i have flown Ryanair 4 times a month for 6 months never booked a seat even on full flights they never overbook.

You might have to if you don’t book a seat.

That's because your bus company pays excise duty on the fuel it uses to transport you (and every other passenger). Aviation gasoline is exempt from that duty, which is why they can get away with charging nonsense prices.

There is a very real chance that the EU will impose duty on fuel. Good for the planet but not good for us passengers!

I flown a few times from Belfast to the mainland for 2p all in when Ryanair first came to the city.
This has already been posted:

Only difference was op priced up the cheapest possible return in the title.

Also the fact that the £2.99 flights are only available from Stansted should be clearer here!
Ryanair don't overbook as a poliyc because of the massive EU fines if they have to reroute passengers (EasyJet do but they supposedly limit it at 1%)

Does the Bus have to pay fees every time it stops though.
Ryanair's Costs/Revenue for their year ending 2018

Average Booked Passenger Fare (€) 39.40
Ancillary Rev. per Booked Passenger (€) 15.48
Cost Per Booked Passenger (€) 42.08

So on average anyone who pays less than the 42.08 figure is losing money for Ryanair.
The Air Passenger Duty alone on the outbound flight would be £13 !!

Ryanair have never overbooked a flight its not their business model. You are simply wrong.
Heat added.
Is there a site or app anywhere that gives you discount prices like this for last minute flights? Say I wake up in the morning and I just feel like doing a day trip or 2 day trip leaving today or tomorrow and I'm willing to go anywhere and willing to fill seats.. I know this might be counterintuitive as airlines obviously want to make money from people who need to fly at short notice, but at the same time there might be flights that are fairly empty and they'd rather fill seats for a small profit.. am I right in presuming such scenarios exist?
Should I buy a couple of French breads from my local or catch a flight to France hmmm

Ryanair do overbook flights - just certain ones where it's more likely for some people not to turn up or even check in online.

Ryanair do overbook. I’m a check in and gate agent and can confirm they do overbook, yes not for all flights but definitely do them on select routes.
La Rochelle ... according to an old Tricolore book it was all happening there.
