Yeh right, Cheapest for one night mid week in Whitby is £50. I stayed there for £9.75 a couple of weeks ago. I know it's school holidays but it's never 30% off. First on the list is 4% cheaper on trivago and that took two minutes to find.

also just about to book holiday Inn express stoke on trent showed 9 rooms available on late rooms site however called hotel who said not rooms available??!

Just saved me 30£ tho.
Had 2 nights at a hotel in Swansea this week for 100, found one on laterooms for 70.

I think that is because they leave the rooms empty as they are actually bought by these travel sites, Trivago etc. The hotel will say it is full, however they can still be bought via third party. That's what I was informed when I enquired about the exact same point. Makes sense I suppose?

Incorrect. Their revenue manager has just failed to open up certain (high commission) sales channels. Always book a hotel direct if you can, you should get the best deal. Sites like booking.com charge hotels up to 30% commission for each booking.

I wasn't attempting to be harsh or rude merely making you aware of the facts. I deal with OTA's (online travel agencies) everyday as part of my role - a lot of people are under the misconception that they buy room stock when if fact they are just marketing companies that demand exorbitant commissions.

Totally the contrary, please don't think I took offence, it's the power of the misread/misunderstood text. I truly appreciate your knowledge and sharing it with us, you as well as I do, that someone else will have a contrasting view. I like yourself was only trying to be helpful. Cheers pal.
