Stupid comment! I thought the purpose of this site was to point people in the direction of the cheapets possible deals? No? Obviously this is not the case. For your information I didnt vote this cold (just in case you thought I did).

Could someone please tell me what I did wrong with pointing out a cheaper deal?

I know this deal was online but many people could benefit from the instore deal. I was only pointing out the instore deal recently posted on here and not trying to be a killjoy!

Your absolutely correct in pointing people in the right direction but only if it's still available as it would then be totally pointless mentioning it.
Is it still available?

By the way your comment didn't annoy me, I read it then thought about all the Tesco wild goose chases and moved on knowing it probably wouldn't be available there.

Aren't these out of copyright?

about 10 in bangor (3 original size-same as OP's pic) and the rest in the slimmer packaging-about half the size, same contents in both if anyones local to the store

Bought this for my Dad from Play at Christmas and he loves it!!

One word of warning though:

Play sent it out in a jiffy bag, so when it got here the box was creased and knocked about, so it looked like a second hand copy TBH.

The discs were fine (and thats all we cared about). If you care about the presentation of the box, just keep this in mind

Otherwise, this is a hot deal

Seems to be 95 years after production, if the copyright was renewed

Couldnt find one in Cirencester so even at a couple of £ more this is an excellent deal. Cant help wondering if this might slide a bit further though, prices of dvd box sets seem to be dropping considerably atm with the introduction and greater acceptance of blue ray ..

I agree 100% - I bought this from Play last time it was on offer and mine was sent in a Jiffy Bag as well, with no extra protection. It's far too heavy a set to be sent in this way. Mine wasn't damaged but that was just pure luck to be honest. Play seem to do this with box sets all of the time now, which is a shame. Compare their packaging to Amazon's, for example. Amazon wins hands down, no competition. So as a result, I always choose Amazon now if it's something that looks fragile or easily damaged in the post, even if it's slightly more expensive there. A shame.....

Anyway, hot deal!

ordered mine from play.com on the 1st dec 09 for a xmas present. Im still waiting for it. not play's fault but the courier is crap. im still waiting for a refund. in the end i just bought it from amazon at the same price.

Excellent price....i paid £80 for the set two years ago (full-size dvd boxes as opposed to these 'skinny' ones). The films are also re-digitised into COLOUR as well as having the original black&white version. Great stuff! :-D

pay 3p more & get it from amazon - got to be worth just for the packaging

Great price! I bought it for £50 ages ago in Virgin Megastore.

Now £39.99.

Marked as "Expired".
