Lavazza A Modo Mio Coffee Machine £20 @ B&M

This Lavazza coffee machine was a steal at £24.99 when I picked it up from B&M a couple of months ago. Now £20.00. An excellent machine that makes much better coffee than Tassimo and is on par with Nespresso in my opinion.

Comes with 12 testers of a variety of flavours. (Also worth nothing that a couple of flavours are also on sale in B&M at the moment — http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lavazza-a-modo-mio-16-capsules-rrp-5-divinamente-2-home-bargains-2488781).

The RRP on this is £69.00 (John Lewis / Lakeland / Sainsbury's)

Enjoy!

Thank you! What a great find :-)

Good price, heat added, thank you for sharing with us

They're always on "annual special offer" in John Lewis, half price at £39.99 so this is hot.
They do chuck in a couple of espresso mugs and some pods, but definitely not £20s worth.

Thanks for posting op. been wanting to get one of these for ages, hope this goes hot. hot, ♨

I'm using one of these for a couple of months, bought mine at B&M for £25, honestly the best 25 pounds that I've spent in my life! Love the coffee, the taste is amazing, the machine is working flawless. I'm buying the pods from Sainsbury's, when they are on offer for £3. And my recent discovery was that at Home Bargains the orange Lavazza espresso pods are sold for just £2!

Sure there is no argument over this price being a deal but i always wonder why people need coffee machine for instant coffee...

There is a logic in bean to cup real coffee machines but all machines under instant coffee machines are as needed as an egg boilers of course. A strong marketing by manufacturer of such machines have truly brain washed a lot of us.

Yes i am a regular coffee maker and drinker and yes you do not have to agree with me.

Thanks.

What a load of nonsense. There are several levels of quality when it comes to coffee - ranging from cheap instant right through to quality "bean to cup". These pod machines sit somewhere in between (and this Lavazza is one of the better ones)...they're obviously not on par with fresh coffee, but how a "regular coffee maker" can compare them to instant coffee is beyond me.

Sweet have some heat

Could always use a non recyclable Costa/Macdonalds etc coffee cup

Is this expresso only or can you get cappuccino and latte, type pods as well?

Lavazza is superior all other coffee in every way All the mios are for black coffee only but you can buy the separate milk frother which is super awesome & so much nicer than the uht milk they have to use in the pods.

Do the Lavazza pods fit Nesspresso machines?

So why make a pointless comment if you don't like the idea that people will criticise you for it; because you just believed that everyone should have the benefit of your infinitely superior wisdom and good taste?

People buy the machines because they are cheap, not withstanding the pods aren't, and because of the convenience. Bean to cup coffee machines aren't cheap, but then maybe you just wanted us to know how well-off and extravagant you are.

Sure you don't want to come back and tell us about how you not only grind your own, but also roast your own, and grow your own, on your own Caribbean plantation?

I agree. I accept this is a good value deal, but honestly, buy a proper coffee machine - difference is night and day. And cheaper in my experience than pods.

How good is the coffee from these?

Why does everything have to be so black or white? Like as if you can only have ONE kind of coffee machine in your house. Or you can only have one as dictated by those who think they know best about what best suits your requirements day to day. Jesus.

Whilst a filter coffee machine can, for sure, make great coffee - it does depend on the quality of the beans, how they were ground, etc etc. And sometimes it's purely about convenience... if you want a quick cup of reasonable coffee, pop a pod in the machine, press the button and off you go. With the filter machine it's put in papers, grind beans, measure correct amount of water, wait for it to percolate...

Seriously - just buy what works for you. This is cheap, makes good coffee quickly. If that suits you, buy it. If you prefer to dick around with a filter coffee machine, with experimentation you may be able to make better coffee. Great.

Heat from me.

I'm a coffee snob, yet we have a Gaggia Classic, a filter coffee machine and one of these in our house. Why? The Gaggia makes the best coffee, no doubt, but whether you're grinding beans or simply using good quality ground coffee, it's messy as hell. It also takes several minutes on average to make one cup, including the milk frothing.

The filter machine is for just making a big jug of morning coffee for the whole house.

This Lavazza is for when you just want something quick and easy - just one or two cups - that still tastes infinitely better than instant coffee. Pod in, press button, bin pod, done. No fuss, no muck and super quick. Even faffing on with the filter machine isn't convenient in some instances - these pod machines are clean and ideal for a work/office environment, for example.

It's not good enough to simply state you can get better coffee from, say, a bean to cup machine. Of course you can. But different usage scenarios require different solutions and this is ideal - and a bargain - for many people.

It's not instant coffee.

May be a silly question, but do these machines do latte type drinks and/or hot chocolates too? I am looking to get a pod machine for my work for the staff and need something that does all round from hot choc to lattes and espressos but in pod form.

This machine (like Nespresso) is more for producing espresso which can, in turn, be made into cappuccino, lattes etc with a milk frother.

If you want an 'all-in-one' drinks machine, you are better off looking at a Dolce Gusto or Tassimo. The latter has more variety and some better pods, I think.

cannae find these anywhere

I have had both of those machines & I am afraid that for an espresso drinker, there are no nice coffees. The closest in the Tassimo is the Costa one but it only comes in the packs with milk so works out really expensive. I didn't like the Dolce Gusto coffee at all & I did try everyone one available on both. I prefer the Mio as I can easily turn in to a latte or cappuccino for my Hubby with the milk frother. The Lavazza Terra is by far the nicest but it is a very strong shot which will have some people buzzing all day so I usually by the Dolce which is also delicious but a little less intense. If you join My Waitrose you can regularly by the 16 pack of Dolce Pods for £3.40 {£4.25 less 20%} & even less if they have the pods on sale

Bought mine today - great deal especially with the cheap pods from Home Bargains

Are there reusable/refillable pods available for this? I've had a look online and from what I can see, a lot of Lavazza machines are covered but the A Modo Mio model doesn't seem to be one of the ones that crops up regularly.

Got mine today from Basingstoke, still quite a few in there!

These been reliable then?? I read quite a few reports on seals leaking..

Not for me - mine's been very reliable. Very simple machine, everything is manual (no pod bucket, no automatic start/stop dosing). Light as well so I can take it on holiday.
It makes a good espresso, as good if not better than a Nespresso machine.

bought this machine a few weeks ago have been in 3 b&m shops today and found none of them or any other shops stock the pods for it, all other pods seem to be standard, i think they have cheek selling the machine then not stocking the pods.
