Wanting to try colour changing gin for a while but not a fan of Palmer violets (yuck!) Just found this on M&S for special offer price of £20 with free click and collect to store or free home delivery over £50.
Comes in lavender or rose flavour and says add tonic water for the colour change although rather annoyingly does not say what colour it changes too!
Edit - just had a reply from M&S on Facebook

Hi Emma When added to tonic, the pale gold rose gin turns a bright shade of pink and the lavender turns from purple to pink, too. Hope this helps! Thanks, Bradley

Both are small batch hand crafted and made by The Old Curiosity Distillery in Edinburgh and are 500ml bottles. They sound ideal for the long anticipated summer we have been promised.
Both are 39% abv so not the lesser strength liqueurs that are also about.
Anyone who has tried them please let me know what they are like and what colour they change to?

Thank you!
The rose one changes from that yellow to a bright pink.
Any idea what it tastes like? Thanks
So it's bottled old lady fragrance, then?

It will depend on the chemistry. If it's dependant on pH (acidity, i.e. like an indicator) the carbonic acid present in any fizzy drinks from dissolved carbon dioxide will produce the colour change. If it's dependant on the quinine in tonic it won't, but I suspect it's acidity.
