Spotted this today in M&S Oulet Store at Newcastle Shopping Park in Byker -15"LCD TV with Freevview and integrated DVD player for £99, they also had 19" for £129- I think these were M&S own brand TVs. Downside - they only had three month warranty-

I think this is an offline deal only

3month warranty?, I thought 12months was your consumer right.

3 months warranty - must be refurbs then ! New would have 12 months......

The warranty is simply what the retailer chooses to give. Your consumer rights are not limited by this at all but more by a judgement of what is a reasonable expectation from the goods. That said, a warranty should be a reassurance that you won't have to 'debate' the point.

Seems very un-M&S to do this, but then they aren't what they used to be are they?

In fairness, a pretty decent deal. I bought one in November when they were very briefly down to £91 on this site (VERY quickly expired), and have been highly satisified. Lets be honest, its a small TV, suitable for kitchen, bedroom, kids etc - you're not expecting the world. I'm happy with mine and would recommend.

Voted hot - decent find

I see, the Sale of Goods Act protects you for up to 6 years.

good find.

Bet its only available in the OPs store.

This statement is misleading. Something can be statute barred after 6 years (in other words you cannot bring a civil claim after this time, save contracts under seal). See the Limitations Act 1980.

This is not the same as saying that the SoGA applies for 6 years. SoGA is around merchantable quality and fitness for purpose, for which such goods are commonly brought and sold. Thus you need to have regard to all circumstances, and the question being: how long would you expect such a product to last. Check out s.4(9).

wow, didn't know they had an outlet store in Byker! that's like a whole 4 miles away from the one at Royal Quays... will have to investigate, Thanks!

You can't really vote cold on what you paid before christmas, if that deal was still available then fair enough!

I voted cold because it is a poor price for a 15" second hand set that only comes with a 3 month warranty

What are the viewing angles like on it? My parents want one for the kitchen, the biggest factor is being able to view it from a non square on angle.

Cheers

Yeah, I don't think the one in Royal Quays has a sound and vision section though-on Sunday there were plenty of the 15" TVs available and certainly a few 19" TVs- in Byker- best of luck- and thanks to all for votes/comments so far (Its my first Hot deal) although i've had a couple of lukewarm deals before
