Not sure if sarcasm or no idea who Leatherman are......

My grand-dad has a Leatherman thats ancient... Looks like it was bought yesterday.

Leatherman are probably the most synonymous word related to "Quality" I know.

I'm in - thanks!

Im well aware Leatherman are an excellent brand or top quality items, my sarcasm is at anybody and I mean anybody giving a 25 year warranty on a product.

I have one of these - bought from Amazon US - and would thoroughly recommend it. After postage I paid more via the States than Tesco are now charging. Much better than the Gerber alternative.

I have one of these permanently on my key ring. Couldn't do without now, really useful.

how sharp is the main blade?

Similar Victorinox for £6 there, too.

No bottle opener/cabriner - but the former I'd tend to just use the edge of something and the latter I wouldn't trust to do actually be useful for anything serious, bar storage by hanging off a belt/kit loop etc.

Was slightly tempted, still - but usually have my Swiss Armyknife with me anyway (no scissors on mine, to be fair).

Why do you say that? I've had my Wave replaced three times in the 13 years I've owned it.

Thanks

very small
not that useful but good price

Not hugely, although it's 420 steel so quite easy to sharpen. I've had mine for 3 years or so now and it's been quite useful, if only for opening beers and cutting up limes

Great find thanks OP

With each replacement are you left with the balance of the warranty or does the new one come with it's own?

great find cheers

Great price. So light, I've ordered one to clip on to my climbing harness. Thanks OP.

The post says 25 years which suggests it wouldnt be an "infinite" guarantee but would, if my powers of deduction are correct, be for a period of twenty five years.

Sold out. - expired

£12.90 on Amazon now.

Got it for 9.90 from amazon as they gave me a £3 voucher for completing a survey ( can't remember what the survey was though )

Gutted I missed out on this one... Was actually looking for the Wave. About 67 quid is still the best price by the looks of it.

I'm pretty sure it's not perpetual otherwise the 25 years would never end...

Try using Amazon Global, it's so much cheaper in the US than here even after shipping and import tax it's still cheaper. Or you can use the Amazon US site and find a third party dealer who ships internationally.

If they expect the tool to last 25 years why wouldn't they expect the replacement to last 25 years? I've considered what you're saying and I'd like to hear from the guy who has first hand knowledge.

back in stock online at tesco this morning

That would be me, the person you're replying to. There wasn't any paperwork which implied the 25 years started from scratch - I don't think I've ever come across a warranty that does this. My previous Macbook Pro had various bits replaced under warranty (I had the three year package) - the three years didn't start again each time.

Thanks for the response. If parts were replaced then yea it might be a bit like Trigger's broom but it's still the same item so I can understand. I was wondering if it was replaced wholesale the replacements might have come in full retail packing with new warranty cards each time.

No - all they've ever returned is the Wave in a jiffy bag. Only paperwork being a receipt/shipping document, and... well, that's it. No box, nothing else.
