Why does it need to be waterproof if it is for behind your TV?

There's better ones on Amazon that actually come with a controller as well that aren't more expensive.

I wasn't asking seriously. I assumed for outside use i just found it amusing that it mentioned waterproof and that it was for your TV in the same sentence.

Do you have a link, Amazon sent me this one because I have it in my basket and this was the cheapest waterproof I had found.

what do these actually do? Is it like the abilight tvs philips used to do where the lighting is supposed to match what is on the screen (in terms of colour)?

Anyone know hoe well they actually work?

Seems a good idea really if they do it convincingly...

Phillips still do these TV's, it is called ambilight and on the Phillips tv it works well, i think they are also going to combine it with the Hue lights to do the full room.

Well thankfully your £6 lights will survive, maybe not the TV though.
I have a yeelight on a lamp stand behind my TV, it makes a huge improvement

It won't follow the TV, you will just be able to set the colour and that's it.

And I believe you have to manually change the colour with either a remote or like this one a switch on the end of the usb.
Not as all singing and dancing as they could be but they are £6 so not bad for the effect.
Exactly the same as the kit I got from ebay for half the price.

Yes this is what I’ve done, Philips ambilight tv with 3 separate hue bulbs, absolute game changer for gaming / films. For example when playing CoD I can be out in the snow in a white light lit room, walk into a barn with dimmed candle light and whole room matches colour almost making you feel you’re in the barn, madness

I'm planning to get the 9000 series Phillips. Probably in Jan sales if there is one.

Sounds great, I've always really liked the idea of the Philips Ambilight tech, though I doubt I could afford a full set up as I believe even just the TVs command a premium.

Always wondered why the other manufacturers never did their own version of it.

Used to have a set for PC many, many years ago, sadly long since discontinued, had lights, fans, speakers and a wrist rumbler type thing that was supposed to simulate controller rumble but for keyboard and mouse. Was very cool for the time but ultimately ended up getting rid of it due to poor support (and lack of OS support in recent Windows releases)...

I did the same with a Hue bulb - I used a piece of wood with a batten lampholder like this screwed on, and a short cable to a plug: screwfix.com/p/l…15d
