Ledaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl £18.65 @ Morrisons

Found 7th Mar 2014
Just spotted this on the Morrisons site. I have no idea what this is like, but for under £20 I'll give it a try!

"A wonderfully peated island single malt from the enchanting Tobermory Distillery on the unspoilt Isle of Mull. This island single malt scotch whisky is part of 'The Ledaig Collection', a fine selection of fresh single malts, full of life and charisma from the only distillery on the Isle of Mull. The name is pronounced 'Led-Chig' and translates to 'safe haven' from the gaelic tongue, aptly named after the area on which the distillery sits, neatly sheltered in Tobermory bay."

What's to story Tobermory, are you made from peat
I live in Ledaig and have never heard it pronounced 'Led-Chig'. Could be a collectors bottle though as i believe the distillery has stopped producing recently because of water shortage
I'm not a great fan of this but as with all single malts, it is down to personal taste. It is just too heavy for me. I wouldn't describe it as full of life. It is only £19 though so worth trying if you like to experience different aromas.
I've had this and I didn't like it all, tasted really young and not ready for drinking. This is just my opinion and I am not an expert but you can get much nicer for the same price. Pay a bit more and get Bowmore or Laphraoig.
the bottle in they picture is a no age statement Single malt which is pretty poorly reviewed. in fact it is no longer in production. and the distillery have rebranded abd changed their production methods and the new whisky's are being pretty well received. The old bottling is available for around GBP 20 online (twe and others) so not add good a deal as you might think.
Bought the last 2 bottles I could find in Shrewsbury Morrisons, rushed home to taste, Not too peaty, quite a sweet/caramel aftertaste, exactly as I could have hoped for, am well pleased and may track down other stores for their stock as well. I suppose its all down to personal taste, but I find it extremely drinkable, cheers
Just grabbed 2 bottles at Nelson, plenty left. A very drinkable wee dram. Cheers OP.
