Ledger Nano S Cryptocurrency Hardware Wallet now £62.96 @ Amazon

Found 1st Dec
these have been out of stock for ages and now can be got for 62.99 which is an okay price.

Please exercise caution when purchasing hardware for Cryptocurrency - ONLY ever buy direct from a reputable manufacturer. Who knows what these devices are loaded with? If you're dropping a lot of investment onto one of these devices without ensuring it's legit, then..... well.... be prepared to wave goodbye!

TIP: Never buy hardware wallets from anyone other than the manufacturer.

You have no idea if these have been hacked, custom firmwared and set up to steal all of your coins as and when you transfer them in.

Many wouldn't buy from Amazon, and certainly not 3rd party seller.

ledgerwallet.com is the company that makes these..sold from france.

Don't save a few pounds when you are risking the security of £thousands

nah they were 48 + 15 postage
I know because I posted this same deal on amazon last week and had looked on the ledger website before buying

Don't worry - this is the lowest price. It was 63.30 last week on amazon-when I bought it

glad OP reposted, as it will get as many people as possible to get a decent hardware wallet and stop the idiotic stories you read in the guardian with "300 million in cryptocurrency frozen" (by grossly incompetent centralised wallet service) and "30 million in bitcoin stolen" (from grossly incompetent wallet service)

and to those who keep claiming this is a bubble, see you at $20,000

I think you may need to explain a little as to what these are - for the masses on HUKD, we won't know without looking into it. That said, I do know the value of these, and what they do, plus their security etc, so take this heat!

Are they adding support for the lesser known crytocurrencies? Some interesting ones on the horizon but need a hardware wallet to store them.

Also, this was selling for £48.45 direct from Ledger on the Black friday weekend.

smilingt its for storing your crypto currencies on, I don't have any yet but with online currency you need a wallet and this is as secure a wallet as you can get the others you rely on the market place or exchange not going down or running off with your bitcoin/eth/dash whatever currency keys. I think any serious crypto person needs one of these especially with the crazy rates crypto is now reaching.

it supports all crypto currencies I think?

I think they are sealed and have proof its their first time use?

Only a basic plastic seal, which anyone can do.

Im not saying these are hacked..... but it is possible and there is a risk.

People will be putting thousands to millions of pounds into these....for a few pounds more from the manufacturer direct, its surely worth the piece of mind?

Is it just an encrypted USB stick?

no, it has a screen and buttons on it to enter PIN etc.

What could possibly go wrong?
Don't forget to pop back in a few months to tell us how it worked out.

Damn, I payed £72 a few weeks ago for one of these. Nice find OP

This supports more currencies than the tresor, and more support coming.

No, this is a device that "keeps" and authenticates your currency. It's a hardware device with software and a tiny bit of memory. It's internally encrypted so no one can go poking around.
It's for people who have cryptocurrency and want the most security for it.
Think of this as bank vault for your valuables.

What happens if this ledger fails or stops working?

good price, now if only i didn't lose my life savings in the first major retracement down to $1800 then i would have something to put in it. True story sadly

You can recover your wallet via the seed on another device, you wont lose any crypto.

Interesting point of view here:

steemit.com/wal…age

tl:dr Being in full control of your crypto, feeling safer about recovery options and likelyhood of remembering your password/passphrases, receiving all the benefits of free crypto from forks and so on

that's the real trick to the ledger
it's a cold storage paper wallet really, but the nano acts as a 'safe' pseudo-hot wallet. I say 'safe' because nothing is safe forever and you always have to stay one step ahead. The good news is that for now black hat hackers will go after the low hanging fruit - and there's still lots of it (most online wallets, most wallets with an app, etc)

It's £63.17 now ...

For all of you guys who's obviously wayyyyy more offay with this Crypto Currency game than I am ...

I'm interested in getting in on this act too. :-)

Where do I start also?, which Companies/Broker's should I now perhaps be looking to source out/seek out, etc etc etc?.

Any advice/link's to any such useful/notable information would prove greatly helpful/useful, thanx in advance. :-)

Hot. I paid about £90 for one of these recently direct from the manufacturer in France.

Ah, comparing a 6 month Tulip bulb bubble from 1637 to a 9-year-old revolutionary technology that offers the actual utility of digitally sending trustless and permissionless payments anywhere in the world without any third party or government, whilst also serving as a deflationary store of value. Enjoy your 1.5% savings interest while the pound inflates away at over double that rate.
