Probably the cheapest ever 6Gb+128Gb, SD820, 2K screen phone (so far)?

Quotes the price as £229.94 (incl warranty cost), but when you add it to your basket & view the Shopping Cart, it gets reduced to £221.82 after giving an automatic US$10 discount (for spending over ~£170 in this store) [if screenshot below is unclear, view it directly here]

The 4Gb+64Gb model is also available on the same page for £170.34 (incl warranty. Spend ~£8 more from the same store & get ~£8 discount, making the extra bits free) - gray, gold & rose gold were the available colours for this spec at the time of posting.

Last couple of times this phone was posted on HUKD, it was for the 32Gb model:

They have included a earphone adapter though - Type-C to 3.5mm.

Btw folks, the same phone & spec is also available at Antelife for ~£7 lower, but their deals are not allowed on HUKD - "an unsuitable non-UK merchant" apparently.

is this phone any good?

Price and specs are great for what you get...however, good and reliable custom roms are not that much available, Nougat update not even mentioned by the company yet... Plus, how will you go about any warranty issue? it is cheap, yes..and a great phone, as long as....

Le Max 2 does have band 20

Good few roms available on XDA currently running LeMadMax on mine, very stable, fast and good battery life.

Camera review said the low light image quality was average, this really does seem to be the one area the lesser known Chinese manufacturers still struggle, same for xiaomi and meizu phones.

Haven't had any issues myself seems to be on par for low light photos with the LG G3 that it replaced.

If you notice even NFC is mentioned there, but the particular model (X829) they are selling here does not have band 20 & NFC.

No headphone jack means no deal for me.

Great price for both models. Will get a new phone for my younger brother for April but not sure whether to buy this now or wait... Other than the Zuk Z2 I don't think there are any other snapdragon 820 phones for around the £170 mark or below.

My mum's got this phone (well x820). The seller installed a global ROM.
I don't like the software, although it looks very elegant, there's no app drawer, no normal drop down menu and there's still some bugs here and there.
In terms of the outside, no complaints, it looks nice, uses USB C etc.
Performance is very good.
I think at the price she bought it £170 for 4gb ram I would recommend.
It'll probably be better with a custom ROM, I've not looked into it cause she's been alright with it so far.

You can get an app drawer easily by just installing a different launcher (don't even need a custom ROM) such as Nova Launcher (seems to be the most popular).

I am however quite wary of bugs in stock ROMs; what kind of bugs are there? I bought the LeEco X800 and there were quite a few bugs which, along with the terrible battery life, made me keep my Xiaomi Mi Note (although I upgraded to a OP3 now).

I find that Xiaomi, Meizu and ZTE Nubia seems to have the better OS out of the Chinese UIs. I've had Lenovo ZUK, IUNI and the LeEco and they are more buggy and whilst they all looked clean and nice, they were a step down when it came to software features and had more bugs.

The current crop of Xiaomi, Meizu and ZTE Nubia phones don't really appeal to me though, especially at their respective price points and design hence I'm really tempted to get this Le Max 2 for my brother as he's using an ageing Meixu MX4 which is coming to a crawl with the MediaTek MT6595 and 2GB RAM. I need to get my sister a phone too as the Zuk Z2 I got her suddenly died and doesn't charge anymore. She was happy with how fast it was but now she's back to her Xperia Z3 Compact with the dated Snapdragon 801 and 2GB RAM. Other than the ugly Xiaomi Mi5 I don't think there is any other compact 5.2" or smaller phone with a Snapdragon 820, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage for £200 or less. Not even sure what will happen to this dead Zuk Z2 as the seller that I bought it from (aliexpress) is just ignoring me now.

Small battery coupled with a Mediatek processor doesn't bode well in my eyes. It does look quite lovely though I admit.

why not gsmarena.com/mei…php ? same form and look, but better camera and bigger battery..

I currently own the Le Max 2 X820 which is pretty much the same with less RAM. It is a fantastic phone....considering the spec and price I'm really happy with it. Worth noting that mine came with a custom EU ROM installed so a lot of the chinese language apps & stuff were not present when it arrived.

Pros:
21 MP rear camera (8MP front)
1440p screen
Finger print scanner
Fast Charge 3.0 with USB-C
Decent Battery life
Dual SIM or Single SIM/Micro SD

Cons:
Quite Heavy
No 3.5" headphone jack (comes with USB-C to 3.5" adapter)
Getting the phone updated can be hit and miss with custom ROMs
Aftermarket support has not extended to EU.....their website only seems to cater for North America & Asia at present.
No reinforced glass on this baby, so best to get an extra tempered glass screen protector and a flip case for it.
Only has one USB-C connector, so I Had to buy additional micro USB to USB-C adapters so that I could hook it into any existing chargers.
