Oh well, everyone to their own taste

This is classic Belgian Abbey beer .... Maybe you're better off with good old British-brewed beer. Consitent taste, consistently low alcohol - they must sell tons of Carling in Belgium :whistling:

Never tried perfume myself, but I'll take your word for it.

This tastes like beer, and a nice beer at that.

Thats a bit out of order... There are tons of excellent English ales and beers, and beers vary enormously in taste!

*Edit: to clarify I myself love leffe, but would hate to be classed as a mcdonalds loving brit just becouse I didnt like sushi - same goes there are great brish foods!

Hoegaarden Ale is also the same price and same sized bottle, If you like your beverage looking like cloudy slops.

You seem to be implying that McDonalds is brit food? Come off it, they don't even sell chips!

Picked up a bottle of brune the day before lent started - great way to see off alcohol for more than a month! H&R added!

just a couple of 750ml??????
maybe I spot the problem......

I think it's two of these in Tesco for £5 at the moment. Not as good but a good spot if you only have a tesco near you or they run out etc.

Lovely beer, especially the 'brune'.

Now if only the Belgians would get the hang of bottle conditioned beer!

Anyone know if they are still doing the 2x4 pack of 330ml Leffe for £7?

I work in Belgium a few times a year and I really like their beers, my faves are Duvel, Kwak, Leffe, Hoegaarden, Chimay Rouge & Premier... In my opinion, these are proper 'sipping' beers, to be savoured & enjoyed slowly, in moderation.

Good deal. Hot!

I've been to Belgium a few times for car shows, I remember (or rather don't!) an afternoon on Judas....went down far too well and I suffered the next morning.

I also used to travel to Belgium on business and the highlight was always to try out a few local beers in the evenings. I tried and liked most of the ones you listed but my favourite was one called Bush. It was 12% and really was a sipping beer. Very wisely it was sold in 25cl bottles rather than the more usual 33cl.

The 750ml bottles of Leffe Blonde / Brune and Hoegaarden are now down to £2.00 in Sainsbury's.
