Leffe Nectar beer 750ml Hardengreen £1.50 Tesco

Found 7th Apr 2016
As an aperitif, Leffe Nectar tastes absolutely delicious with foie gras on a slice of pain d'épices or with warm goat's cheese on toast.

Leffe Nectar has a rich, golden orange colour, aromatic honey flavours and a wild and floral bouquet. A soft and refreshing infusion characterised by a tangy aftertaste and a true abundance of flavour. When swirled around in a Leffe chalice, the beer's most exquisite flavours are set free

Leffe is an authentic Belgian Abbey beer, founded by the Fathers of the Abbey in 1240 and their craft, expertise and brewing tradition can still be enjoyed today. This brewing heritage is now shared and enjoyed by consumers in over 60 countries worldwide.

I must agree, when my man servant serves me an aperitif such as the aformentioned Leffe Nectar it really does taste absolutely delicious, I've yet to sample it with foie gras on a slice of pain d'épices or with warm goat's cheese on toast but it is delightful with a kebab or a Big Mac.

Have some increased warmth my fine fellow.

not tried this, how's it compare to brune?

Great buy! Most of the Leffe 750mls are 2 for £3 anyway

The 750ml bottles of Leffe and Hoegaarden are 2 for £5.00 in my local Tesco stores. If you've seen them priced at 2 for £3.00 you should post the deal.

2 for £5 if you are lucky. 2 for £3 if you get the bus back

I was short of a few things in my larder, but I did manage to have it with some toast!

Quite sweet - I would say it's ladies beer

Most lasses wouldn't drink this. It's still a blokes beer this.

Mind you, you're a Scot ....so 5% is likely insufficient alcohol content

Absolutely my mistake! Looks like the Leffe has already gone to my head - sorry!
Indeed. Up here, beers with an ABV of around 5% are generally viewed as toilet cleaner.

Just a point, this is no longer brewed by monks. It's brewed by AB Inbev probably the largest brewery group in the world. Same can be said of a lot of the Abbaye beers, to some extent.

I'll give the 'Nectar' a try tonight, but I do love the Bruin, frickken yummy!
I wish there was a wider choice of Belgian beers in our stores. They seem to be sent all over Europe but for some reason can't get them to cross the channel. Pity.

I wish Rochefort 10 was more widely stocked here in the UK. That said, if it were I'd probably be bankrupt with cirrhosis.

Now you're talking! But it's not *that* easy to get in Belgium.
Good price so heat added BUT for me this stuff was absolutely rancid! Far far too sweet and even beyond that it just wasn't nice.
Horrible stuff, stick to the Brune.
Is it worse than the Ruby? I bought several of them, but it's undrinkably sweet.

Recently I was with friends driving to Switzerland. On the Calais side of the tunnel we stopped at Pidou - I was, for a moment, delighted to see they had Rochefort 10 for a good price, then as soon as the elation appeared it disappeared when I found out it was their last bottle! Still, that was a very nice Après-ski drink one evening! They did, at least, have loads of Westmalle, of which I availed myself!
Well.....it's still £2.99 or 2 for £5.00 in the Tesco I have been to today....sounds likely store specific this.
Not sure why they stock Ruby and Nectar and not Tripel...!

And it's 8.5%... Always stock up when we head over to Belgium!

Now Tesco, get your fingers out and try stocking some of the following...
Delirium Tremens
Straffe Hendrik
Brugse Zot (Blond or Dubbel... or both!)
Kwak

And the one that will bankrupt me...

The only time my mil appeared almost human was when I got a bottle of triple down her in The Kerk in Delft. Been my favorite drink ever since. I have a few 750ml bottles of triple bought in the Uk, but I've only ever seen them for sale once in Tescos.

2 for a fiver of the other Leffe beers is really good, although some are too sweet to knock back by the pint - try smaller glasses. The ruby and brown are lovely. Triple the best if you can get it.
Ive looked at this in past, but the lower alcohol content compared.to the other leffe's has put me off, but at £1.50 I'd give it a punt

Tripel has the ability to make a mother-in-law human... See, Belgian beer has magical properties!
I've finally run out of my stash from our Belgian trip last year. I can get a lot of the others on my list from arty farty, expensive beer shops (good for a treat), but absolutely none in my area have ever stocked the Tripel. The fact that you've seen Tripel in Tesco even the once blows my mind, there's hope!

Shame they reduced selection they had, ruby is no longer stocked, if nectar disappears then I wont shop in tesco anymore
I'm not convinced high alcohol plus load of fruit chucked in isn't really some sort of diversionary tactic

Pidou is good for regular beers and wine, but wildly overpriced for Belgian beers.
Much cheaper across the border at Adinkirke

Thanks for the tip - unfortunately this time we were going as direct as possible from Calais to Switzerland!
They had these 750ml bottles of Leffe Nectar in my local store today. They hadn't previously been reduced.
All the Tescos in my area have stopped doing the 2 for £5 deal and also stopped stocking the Nectar. I have searched far and wide to try to find a store that sells the Nectar still but to no avail. I am also disappointed with Tescos as I was assured by a Manager at their Morning Lane store that it's available online only so I signed up & indeed downloaded the app just for this purpose only to find that it is only Brune & Blond available.

Any ideas anyone??? Very disappointing Tesco!!!!

Ah yes, the notorious Tesco wild goose chase we know and love. I gave up looking for Tesco deals posted here long ago.
