Twice the fear, twice the action, twice the excitement. The original Left 4 Dead was one of the scariest first-person shooters ever but the sequel leaves it for dead! You are one of four survivors desperately trying to escape an outbreak of the psychopathic Infected. Play on your own, or with friends online. Either way, your survival depends on teamwork. Left 4 Dead 2 features five new, terrifying and varied campaigns, plus new devastating melee weapons to let you get up-close and personal. There are even more vicious Infected types to battle too, a Scavenge game mode that introduces a new way to feel the fear online. The Director mode has been overhauled too, to maximise your experience while adjusting the game to suit your skills.

woweeee - how hot will this get????

Awesome price, HOT

Best deal I've seen on this forum in 2010! Outstanding (although I actually prefer the maps from the first game).

This is an amazing price I would get it but being a student I would just play it all the time and no work would get done :'(

Think i'm going to buy this now ready for the mac version next month

nice find was gonna get this last week for £14.99 lucky i waited another week THANKS

Was very close to buying it at 14.99 thinking that was a great deal, but glad I waited!

When I got it for £18 I was happy! I can't believe it's gone this low!

What the hell! Has the world gone mad?
My total L4D2 playtime is now: 248.1 hrs

And i'll happily spend another 250hrs on it
(I do have a life and a job lol).

New content should be imminent (and free on PC too).

great price for this, what are the specs for it?

I have the original version for PC. Is this much improved? Some players I've spoken to on l4d reckon the first game was better... £10 I'm tempted to try it out, but spend enough time on PC already!

Yes you can, you need to install STEAM, to play it tho.

ChrisIW yes but it requires Steam for authentication, so you can never transfer the license to anyone else.

cheers man

OK thanks guys. I don't have a problem with Steam if it means no messing about with discs, so yeah I'll definitely be getting it at this price.

Initially I preferred the original, perhaps because of the darker atmosphere. But I haven't played it for months. I also disregarded melee as pointless but now I can't imagine leaving the saferoom without a baseball bat.

Used to obsessively play survival in the original, but now VS is the mode that soaks up endless hours. I think the level design is better suited to it

What hardware have you got? Although the minimum/recommended have been posted I don't think they give an accurate representation of the gameplay experience. I've spent a long time playing at both ends of the spectrum....

Hot price! I rushed to pick this up just after release and thought £18 was the bargain of the century.

Unfortunately, it's not all rosey.

I'd seriously recommend before blowing even a tenner on L4D2, you study the steam forums closely.

Lots of user (myself included) have PC rigs far beyond the recommended kit for this game and suffer from an inexcusable amount of CTD (crashes to desktop) - seems really common for people with 64-bit processors or NVIDIA graphics cards (I have both - hurrumph!).

Folks, this software is buggy as hell. It's a real shame 'cause it's such a good game when it works. I've played the first game to death and have had to resort to shelving L4D2 until valve sort out their software. Each month, I see valve fixing bugs that nobody seems to complain about while lots of us still have major crashes to contend with no matter how many driver packs, console tweaks or updates we try.

It's so unlike valve to release software in this state. Just goes to show that even the best in the business are prepared to cut quality in order to meet a deadline and grab the xmas loot. :x

Unfortunately, it's not all rosey:x

I will have to read up on that. I'm playing it on Win 7 64bit and haven't had a single crash (i5-750 / ATI 5850 based). Valve are fairly ATI orientated though, despite the fact their regular hardware polls show nvidia users as their core customer : /

I did have at least three crashes on XP during the first 2 weeks of launch, but that was a common server error and quickly patched.

I'm a big Valve fan and a regular Steam user - this came as a massive shock and disappointment to me as I've never had any problems with any other software (theirs or otherwise) and I played with ATI and NVidia chipsets. My GT card eats all games for breakfast and thunders along in L4D2 until the inevitable crash - usually before reaching the end of a damned level!

Is this price the same instore?

That sounds like an epic hassle. I'd be just as infuriated, you'd thing the Source engine would be stable as a rock by now. I just feel sorry for those accused (by others) of rage quitting :-D

I'm only an ATI user by coincidence, starting with the All-in-Wonder 8500 in my parents computer back in 2001. Bizarrely i've never owned an nvidia card.
Even my horrific X1600 didn't suffer L4D2 issues other than framerate

Heat from me. Just finished playing through single player missions on L4D 1 so nice to have this to move on to.

I paid £17.99 and It not as good as I thought and now I want to sell it I cant because of the way steam works:x Shame steam is like that, its put me right off them now and I may have be prejudice to them in the future.

ordered

great deal. heat added

Awesome price.

Decent game too.

I think this deal may see a surge in noobs on the servers..

Awesome deal, got it at release for 28.99 :|, went halfs with the gf tho coz she loves L4D series
