Not so certain it will, maybe hit 60 though
Buy two, this is so much better with two or three central carriages...
Where can you get more track at a reasonable price?

Amazon. Had a good deal for track. Buy the cheap ‘M.Y’ train for £11 ish it comes with some. Bricks are ok. Engine rubbish. Carriage based on old lgeo design

Considering the price of the power functions on their own this is a steal, great deal!

Was £58.13 in November at Amazon. Never seen it new from a major retailer for less than that. Some damaged box bargains occasionally on Ebay for around £50.

Depends if you want straight or curved. Curved is fairly easy to obtain from Ebay etc. Straight is very expensive from a re-seller. Your best bet for straight is to find a deal on pack 7499. Most people ignore it as it's classed as a flexible track pack, but it actually contains 8 pieces of straight too. The only way to obtain straight from Lego other than in a train set. It's often available for around £10 a pack on a multibuy or other offer. You'd pay that, and more, for the 8 pieces of straight on Ebay. The last few I've bought have been less than £8 each. You can either use the flexible track for the curves or sell that on.

If you're not fussed about the lego branding then get the lepin version from aliexpress. It's a fraction of the cost.
So this is the HS2 train network they were talking about.
Around June this will be retired set coming new 2 Trains in 2018

Think the point of Lego is to let your son set it up
