May I suggest that it is not the product that is the problem, and your choice of batteries. We have no issue with our lego trains and battery usage. There is also this new technology out called rechargeable batteries

Why not be pleasant?

Yes rechargeable batteries is the way to go on this sets. I think it's 9 AAA batteries in total that you need. Great set. My son has had it for 2 years and still gets played. You will need extra track though. As what you get is a bit measly.
Purchased with free set, cheers op!
@singingauditor there is no unpleasance. Just pointing out no one needs to be evaluating if they should purchase this because of short battery life, which someone else brought up. Offering good info to the community is usually considered useful and helpful.
Lego does sell a rechargeable LiPO battery for trains....
Buy this. Use the motor in the Holiday Train. Then swap back to this for the rest of the year.
Shame the wife won't let me buy anything else for little one for xmas
Not suitable for under 6's? Any reason why or just small parts etc.

No reason why a 6 year old couldn't help build this with supervision and play with it as well. There aren't any electrical risks as it's battery powered. It's vulnerable to over enthusiasm, but the same goes for all Lego. Seems that everything sold these days has to come with a disclaimer or advice. Lego parts are small and if our old Lego is anything to go by, were chewed on a regular basis by all our kids who all grew up happy and healthy and passed the Lego torch onto their kids.
Wouldn't let me add promotion code FREELEGOTOY
You need to do the code AND add the batman toy to the basket, otherwise you get the error message.

Still didn’t apply the discount. I ended up speaking to Customer Services and they deducted the value from their side.
If you order both items and apply the promotion it discounts the train by £11.90 so once you’ve ordered cancel the Catwoman Toy element of the order and get the train at £54.10.

Your welcome!
