ah ok..I didn’t realise I’m not experienced with Lego. I tend to use camelcamelcamel to check I’m not over paying for things and doesn’t look like it often goes down to this price. May be helpful for some folk

It was regularly that price last year before Christmas but it’s not dropped below this. It’s a little bit harsh to say it’s the normal price, a quick search of HotUKDeals would show that it’s probably the right price for it and if you paid more, or the RRP you’d paid over the odds.
It’s a really good set tbf,but what let’s it down is the track that comes with it....
You’ll spend the same amount as the set cost if not more on additional track to get a half decent layout, what it comes with is a very small circle track

Wait for Black Friday.

Paid £50.58 @ Amazon Warehouse after 20% promo.

Set was sealed, brand new but box was slightly squashed.
Cheapest on Amazon is £109.99 and they won't be price matching Smyths.
So hot for me and Thanks op.
The train in this set it really good. Much better than the white one in my opinion x

And me
Tried to buy one of these a few months ago but there were none there, all they could offer me was a replacement bus.

has anyone found a good alternative producer of the track? as someone mentioned above the additional track costs so much and you need it to get a good play out of it
Thanks for the post, just popped in to buy one!

Very timely as only yesterday I made my mind up to get this when it was on offer, but I'll only be happy with two sets to complete a full train. I'll hold on for a while on the second and hope for something like >40% off at some point.

As for people dismissing your deal, camels shows Amazon only had it cheaper than £80 once (£68 for a short period) and otherwise never on sale at the £80 price point. So certainly a decent deal! Though on a pricy & slightly underwhelming train set (like most recent City trains) I'd hope for a discount greater than 33% to make it feel like genuinely good value.

Amazon Warehouse prices are completely irrelevant in my opinion, that's comparing apples and oranges. With a damaged box that's closer to looking at the average used price on ebay.

There are various options on Aliexpress for clone brands of track. Haven't tried any myself. Might be best to search previous posts on the r/lepin subreddit for advice on colour match, quality etc, or ask again. I wouldn't normally advocate clone brands but Lego are frustrating in that they won't sell packs of straights alone, so you always end up with way too many curves & flexible tracks. Even worse situation with their road plate packs.

So glad you found it helpful and went and got one and thanks for your comment
Obviously the RRP is a lot higher but it's been consistently £109 most places. Now it's been out just over a year and the fans have all paid the premium to get it first, I'd say this price is going to become about average for this set - I've seen it on offer at this a few times.

Assuming it goes the same way as the pricing on the previous white set it replaced, there's a pretty good chance around Black Friday it will drop below this, maybe as low as £69.99 or slightly less. I can't see it going a lot lower than that just yet as these train sets tend to have a life span of around 4 years before they are replaced, but you never know. Amazon did the previous one around £58 a few times and I seem to remember Asda dropping it as low as £55

I've got some of the Lepin clone track and it's decent quality and fits together well. Colour wise it's pretty much identical. I've seen loads of adverts on Ali Express for it and, afaik, it's all the same.
Not hijacking this, but if you can't find one at your local Smyths, try Amazon for the same price. Price keeps changing. Voted hot!
