Literally just picked up this from Argos for £14.40. I feel a return …Literally just picked up this from Argos for £14.40. I feel a return coming.

You would bother to return it to save £1.41?

feels like the time spent returning outweighs the saving pretty impressively

He's returning it to Argos so don't think Amazon would be too fussed!

Why would you return something to a different store than you bought it from?

With that logic you shouldnt be buying lego.
in the time it takes you to return it to argos (ignoring how in the current pandemic that is a stupid thing to be doing) you could earn more than £1 at any number of jobs

Ahh you never asked if I was employed or not..
By the way the Argos I picked it up from was inside my local Sainsburys all of 2.1 miles away whilst I picked up some essential shopping! I'll do the same when returning it, plus the box was a little squashed which is no good for collectors!
P13ULC21/05/2020 16:02

that is irrelevant.
if you have a job or not, you can work to earn more money.

if you don’t want people to call you out for doing something mad like returning a lego set to buy for £1 less somewhere else don’t post that you are going to do it

I'm really not bothered if people behind a keyboard take the mick, they don't know me and why would I be bothered what anyone else feels is a suitable amount worth returning something for. Everyone has there own personal financial situation!
Got this last week good little model, got the GTR coming tomorrow too, and also have the Fiesta rally. Want some of the other Speed series but they are smaller and won't look as good next to the others.

Good point. If it’s costing you nothing to return in then it’s no big deal. Returns (along with justification of cheaper elsewhere) help remind companies they need to be more competitive.
Personally I’d be ordering the Lepin (Lego clone) equivalent from AliExpress!

I really can't give you enough heat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've used aliexpress a few times but not once thought about trying it for lego (lepin)
You have saved me a fortune as my daughter loves lego since lock down

If you have the thousands to begin with maybe... Not worth the effort to return it for £1.40 or whatever it is in my opinion.
Good deal, I can't help thinking this model looks like it has a row of white bathroom tiles along the front though
Cheers op I was just eyeing this up for the nippers birthday was going to get it from Argos but a £1.41 saving is not to be sniffed at.

12.99 and so hot. Am I missing something? To me it is still overpriced.

You're missing a lot; the price this is at now is the same RRP as the older sets which were smaller at 6 studs width. The Speed Champions sets released this year like this one are now £18 because they are 8 studs in width which is actually quite a lot; they also have a lot more pieces than before and none of it is wasted on side builds (except for sets that feature two cars). This is far from overpriced now.

Or you could just wait for discounts on Lego sets instead of getting awful clone branded stuff which are a severe false economy. Not to mention the amount of time you spend waiting between when you order it and it arriving, you would've earned enough to buy the actual proper set you wanted anyway. And when do want to move on from those Lego sets, you can sell them off easily and make back most of what you spent whereas clone brands you'll get nothing from them even if they're cheap.

Or maybe his daughter just loses half the pieces after a week so who cares 😃

So you will order a knock off version with crappy quality that basically amounts to theft...
Purchased and sent to the nephew in lockdown

I have plenty of the real lego sets and do wait for discounts but she changes her mind on what she likes every couple months, She builds them once then that's it but guaranteed in 6 months time she will think about a specific set and if ive sold it I've got a 5 year old teenager to deal with
Plus I have lego from when I was a kid so doubt it will ever get sold or thrown away.

I will still buy smaller sets when on offer (she loves avengers so we have most of them) but for more expensive sets that I couldnt afford to get her it means I can help her problem solving with 'awkward pieces'

Honestly the £1.41 extra is worth it to avoid using amazon.
