Brilliant deal, cheers OP
Is there a way to change the language to English? Also is it ok to pay in GBP if you just have a normal credit card?
Thanks

Whoops - I was using my phone and saw the number 25.48 and thought kerching!

Will read email on chrome and double check to see if the price can change. (Or do credit card companies add charge to my account separately?)

You can pay in £ with Amazon exchange rate. You are not loosing much and avoid your bank fees!
I'm sure I chose GBP option - not sure now tbh as I dont understand a word of it!! My son has been using his normal lego to try and build the Eiffel tower and I didnt think twice before buying!!

Sous-total des articles :EUR 19,37
Frais d'envoi :EUR 3,80
Total HT :EUR 23,17
TVA :EUR 4,64
Montant total de la commande :EUR 27,81

Yes

Price EUR 19.37. Shipping costs EUR 3.80. VAT: EUR 4.64. Total: EUR 27.81, paid as GBP 25.48.

You paid £25 whereas amazon UK would charge you £40.

Is it just me or does the Eiffel Tower look like it's made of stickle bricks?

Always pay in €. Amazon exchange rate is well above of what your bank will charge you.

It depends on the bank's charges & exchange rate vs the seller. In this case Lloyds would work out slightly more expensive than amazon.fr based on 0.88 rate, 2.99% fee + 50p fee. Barclays would work out slightly cheaper with a 2.75% fee (and no 50p)

Price has increased. Deal expired. Just like the other amazon sites, FR's prices jump up and down

Not within EU.

Outside of EU (amazon.com, newegg etc.) it depends - google "import fees" should get you to gov.uk (HMRC) page with the details on.

Amazon.com always gives you a full breakdown of fees of your shopping basket - shipping, duty and VAT.

I know. The question from @daveclarke was do you get charged import duties from amazon (not specified which amazon) which I answered: Not in the EU but outside of the EU it depends on HMRC's rules - sometimes you do, sometimes you don't.

My comment was based on four different debit and credit cards (from different banks), I have used with all European Amazon outlets. I usually pay in €, and afterwards compare Amazon £ conversion with my statements. Is the 50p a culprit here?

That's fair enough and I'm happy you saved money. My point is that paying in EUR plus a bank fee is not always cheaper than paying in GBP without a bank fee. For this relatively small order value, paying EUR via Lloyds or Barclays (I just picked 2 of the big names) would have made little difference either way - pence not pounds either side of the Amazon FR price.

Yes, that's probably a valid point for a small transaction. Was it a 50p charge which tipped the balance?

Well yes, it's valid because it's true i.e. it's not always cheaper to pay in EUR, it depends on the bank's charges and exchange rate vs the seller's exchange rate. haven't checked lots of banks, I just picked 2 big names out of the air. Maybe Lloyds is the worst, maybe not. It's individuals' own choice whether or not they want to do the comparison each time; I wouldn't normally for this size of transaction but like I said I'm happy if you saved some money.

Yes Lloyds' 50p charge makes them more expensive than amazon FR for this order value.
