Be careful buying Lego from ASDA Direct; they just put the boxes into black bags and send it that way. Result - box is squashed and battered. Even if they put bubble-wrap (got one this way) it will naturally still be squashed.

Sure the contents is fine but if it is for a present you may not be too happy.

Tesco are just sending the box, no packing just a sticker on it.

Excellent - that's ever worse

agree, i bought some lego from asda a while back.

the boxes were just in a black bin bag like cover and to make matters worse they had sellotaped all the boxes together which meant they were trashed to pieces when trying to take the tape off. The boxes were bashed and damaged as well. They don't seem to care.

Similar experience from tesco.

i only buy from amazon now as they box everything and the packaging inside is generally very good.

not voted either way as the price is good

Great saving. Thank you.

Same experience with them sending it in plastic and get damaged by yodel in shipment (not really yodel's fault as such, just felt like mentioning them as they NEVER can find my flat despite ever other delivery company having no problem at all finding it). Argos are prone to doing this too.

Going to be returning a few items to Asda soon that were damaged that way, but their helpline told me I had to go to store to verify damage. Wish I'd been braver and told them I'd charge for my time in doing that. If enough people do that hopefully they'll realise that this kind of packaging isn't acceptable.

Stuff I've had sent to store for Asda and Tesco orders have both been fine though, and at least then if it's damaged you can just reject it there and then

Yes i bought Lego Airport Fire Truck from Argos and packaging was just a black bag - Lego box was battered to hell!

I've submitted a price-match to Amazon, perhaps they will match and we can buy it from there

I got lucky.

bought 3 x pirate ambush for £40 each at Asda, click & collect.

All three sets were put in black bags, no packaging whatsoever but all three were in perfect condition.

To counter the above comments I've bought numerous items from Asda & all have been packaged very well.

Heat for the price OP.

I had the same experience with poor packaging at Xmas. fingers crossed this time. Thank you x

Toys r us is also no good, I had boxes delivered with holes

thanks OP. ordered for pickup.

I picked a couple of these up on the £20.70 Pixmania deal - I thought that was a good deal then but this is even better.

However, the comments RE packaging are worth noting. I've had Christmas presents through Tesco direct that were "black bagged" and totally knackered. Amazon/pixmania packaging is solid.

Is this life size?

Just use click/collect and reject on the spot. I do if boxes are poor.

Not a set to invest in as Lego are struggling to clear inventory, hence this set still hanging around even with good offers.

I'm not too knowledgable on the investment side of lego but is the non-licensed stuff with the exception of exclusives ever a good investment? I've seen the Star Wars and Marvel stuff go for crazy money but wonder whether this rings true for City?

The Lego City Space Shuttle set (3367) seems to be doing quite well since retirement. Picked up a few sets for about £11 and now they're selling for around £45 to £58 BNIB.

For investment purposes, the main sets to go for are Lego Superheroes and Star Wars. Still not too sure about the Hobbit and LOTR sets but couldn't resist picking up a few unexpected gathering and Pirate ambush sets in the recent 50% off sales.

Thanks for the reply - will look more closely at City sets. I suppose the shuttle is fairly iconic and would have a good appeal.

The only luck I had with super heroes, which was luck rather than better judgement, was 6868 Hulk's Helicarrier breakout. Picked up some for half price but they went up quite well as I believe it is the only set with the Hulk minifigure and is now discontinued (hence the insane demand).

We bought this but beware - if you pay for asda orders by paypal then they ask you for photo ID to collect the item!

This is the third time I've ordered Lego from Asda Direct for store pickup. First time box was in a grey bag and bashed, second time I ordered two the same and it came in the original Lego brown box so was fine. Today I picked up this Police helicopter but the front of the box was covered with stuck down A5 delivery note! So if you want your Lego in good condition I'd shop elsewhere or be prepared for the hassle of returning.

This is now back in stock as Asda and also the same price at Amazon now.
