That's rather a strange comment to make bearing in mind you posted a deal 10% off Lego at Smyth's Toys that went subzero -79

Not really, the poster is possibly warning the OP that they may freeze too? As they themselves experienced?

Thanks

Agree. And you obviously missed the flash ASDA deal. There are some sets that you know won't drop to the 33% mark, while some will go down and stay down at 50% off. Millineium Falcon is one of those that 25% off is a good deal. At 15% I'm not so sure. ASDA might have it back in stock soon, you never know.

I spotted the Creator Bike Shop as well but I suspect that will fall in price in due course. The Mini Cooper (like the Camper van) on the other hand is unlikely, and I'll take any discount for that.

Thanks, same price at Tesco Direct.

You would have thought so... but if you read the blurb then you would have realise that I was highlighting the fact that this applies to some of the rarer ones that don't often get discounts. Unfortunately like others you didn't read the blurb and it went very cold. Their loss!

This Camper van is not a deal. Most of the Lego City sets have the potential to go at least 1/3 off so I certainly won't call this a deal.

PS Please remember to post if you see Creator Bike Shop drop to around 1/3! I suspect that one will only go to 25% off at most. I'm getting the Mini at RRP when it's out as I think it will stay that price like the VW Camper.

Lego shop offer 10% discount, plus incentives (free sets / double VIP points / 100 bonus VIP points) a few times a year, so I try to buy the exclusive sets then to get a better deal and effectively 10%-50% off, depending on the deal.

...and I agree - there are a lot of "deals" for Lego City that are only scratching the surface of the rrp. I would go with a general 33% discount being the tipping point at worth buying as a proper deal - less than that, and it would depend on if it's a rarely discounted set or not.

Prices went up 20%-25% a year and a bit ago, it appears mainly to give more scope for retailers to give a small discount and still get the same price! Hence why 33% is about the discount for a decent starting deal.

The camper van would have been a £15 set if released 18 months ago - add inflation, rather than the huge price hike, and it's rrp should be £15.50 or thereabouts... so that discount to £14 doesn't look as attractive now, as it's basically a 10% discount.

...and this set has been at £13.99 online / for store reservation at ToysRUs for the last couple of months, along with some of the other rrp £17.99 sets.

Thanks op I bought Two for my 5 and seven year old boys. I sure I appreciate your post along with 250 other hukd members.
