Haha, I bought this game for Switch ages ago (originally had and completed it on Wii U), only started playing it again recently. It's such a fun game, even if I am 21!
Whoo, was looking at buying this on the eshop 2 days ago (45 quid), then found out the physical was 24 quid or so. was holding off a bit, but now? nahh

*edit it was 49.99 before

Yes £49.99 is ridiculous for this on the Switch! You're buying it I'm guessing then? If so, enjoy!

Do you have a favourite Lego game available on Switch other than Star Wars to recommend? I'm not really a Star Wars fan myself, are any of them similar to Lego City do you know?

Lego City's kinda unique with its open world. However all Lego games have the same basic formula (except I think Lego Movie 2 and Lego Worlds, although I don't know all of them). Most have a hub and then have levels as the main objective.

I'd recommend picking a franchise that you like (Lego City's just generally awesome so doesn't need one!). I love Harry Potter so got the Lego Harry Potter Collection - even though I've already got both on Wii and DS! Was mostly for the nostalgia of playing it as a kid but I'm having loads of fun. I've also double dipped on Jurassic World by getting it on Switch.

So it's not so much what others recommend - it's what you like. I have limited interest in the super hero movies and so haven't bought the games - I'd probably get bored. Pick something that you'd like to see represented in Lego form with their humour!

Naturally, I would recommend Harry Potter and Jurassic World. It sounds like you've missed out on lots of older Lego games (Harry Potter is a port of such an older game, pre-talking (which is great imo)). So I'd really recommend giving them a look if there's any franchises you like. If you have something to play them on then I recommend having a look second hand (edit: just saw you own a Wii U, so there's both Wii and Wii U games you could try). There's also frequently sales on Steam (see my posted deal history!) so you can get them for a fiver or less. I love Lego Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings.

Apologies if I missed the point lol

Thanks for your detailed and helpful reply, much appreciated I did actually enjoy Indiana Jones DS games when I was a kid even though I don't watch Indiana Jones, I haven't ever watched so can't say I don't like the movies though

What size SD card would you recommend for the Switch in order to download a game to it? And can you play the game without internet? Only recently just got a Switch and have only used physical games, so any advice appreciated.

....I do realise that I have also given away how terribly old I am to not understand how downloadable games work!

It depends on how big the game file is. You can check this in the eShop, I have a 128GB micro SD card. It honestly depends on if you're planning on going all / mostly digital, and if so, I would recommend one bigger than 128GB

Games can be played offline unless they're games specifically to be played online. With this Lego City game it's an offline only game

All games tell you the file size on the eShop. So it depends on how many you’re buying. The Switch has 32GB internal storage so you may not need one.
Thank you @andrewworrall1 and @sammy_zammy
Good to know that this lego game is playable offline too as that’s what I was looking for. I’ll probably get this City and the Harry Potter one
I have this on cartridge, does anybody know if the save data will transfer to digital version?

Yes, it will
I am gutted at Christmas time I let the usa sale of this pass me by it was about $8.99 so about £6.89, in the US it’s currently about $11.99 or £9.19 because I am hearing it’s a decent game.

never mind next time it drops to $8.99 i’ll get it, I am not desperate for this one.

currently this is the best price it has been in the UK since last time, so heat for that of course
