It is an enjoyable build and the gadgets are brilliantly integrated. If you like Lego then I’d recommend it.As for the fake kits, I bought a cheap fake X-Wing and it was awful. The figures’ arms fell off, were not detailed and the cockpit wouldn’t close. You get what you pay for.

my son in law built his DB5,had it on display for a month, then dis mantled it and gave it to me to build.now just a quick heads up to those that don,t know how these kits works.so you get the bits initially bagged up in numbered bags which you open and build as you read the supplied manual or you can use an online manual if you prefer.now its relatively straightforward but you still have to stay focused and pay attention as you build.now heres the kicker:-because its now dismantled, you not going to try and place all the right bits back in the numbered bags they were initially in when it was first built, unless your really OCD or you have the patience of a Saint.so firstly me and the mrs had to sort out all the pieces into containers by shape color size etc.then we started to build it,now finding the right bits, even in the sorted containers could take a while sometimes.but let me tell you after it was built,it took about five nights,we didnt rush it,just chilled as we built it and wow the sense of accomplishment was one helluva buzz, that i really cant put it into words, how great we felt.i remember we sat there i think it was literally 30 mins just staring at it,looking at it from all angles, looking at the doors the revolving number plates, etc, yeah i know it sounds crazy but we were elated heh heh.yeah we know it doesnt look that great cosmetically but looking at it completed, and left to display on the shelf it looked sexy as hell.we had it on display for about 4 weeks ourselves, before we returned it to our son in law.he,s now dismantled it and doing his first rebuild without numbered bags and he,s tearing his hair out lol,yes its a challenge doing it that way thats for sure.

Lego isn't a very good investment anymore more so as it's made very cheaply now.

I think it's investment value was in the rarety of some of the sets, not the cost of their production. But as so many are now made especially for collectors/investors, I suspect that means none of them will ever be particularly rare or valuable.

I just mean as a lego collector I no longer buy sets as an investment as their value isnt stable anymore since they started making them from cheaper parts etc. Even older sets are dropping in value. Lego used to be an amazing investment but not so much anymore
Yes lego overproduction is the name of the game.
You can even buy it in Semichem,Poundland
Electronic stores, Next, even my local pet shop.
I used to have Lego castles. A black one was my favourite
That looks like a DB5 that's hit a brick wall?
It is ugly. I wouldn't buy it even for half price.
Oh John Lewis you have hurt my wallet today!
Creator? What's creative about building a model from instructions that you don't have to paint or otherwise finish off? And yes, all their car models are ugly and pointless
Looks like it was designed on a Etch-a-Sketch !

The point of LEGO is you build the set using the instructions then either play with it or display it. Then take it apart and build something else. That the purpose of the “LEGO Brick” is you can put them together and take them apart over and over. Can’t do that with an Airfix model...
Come on, this is not traditional Lego for rebuilding. It’s a dumb, ugly kit, with very specific parts. If you can turn it into the Empire State Building, please showme
I want the real thing. Nope lottery numbers were useless bah!

Off to John Lewis!

I wondered too but I’ve seen this set reduced a few times now which suggests it’s not a great seller.

Have you seen the technical detail in linking the steering, suspension, even the pistons moving in the right order when moving? Ugly, maybe, pointless arguable
Excellent! Been looking for something suitable for the wife’s birthday

LEGO is one of the worlds leading toy companies in the world. So making “dumb” products is obviously working for them. End of the day don’t like it, don’t buy it. Simple.

The GWP from Shop Lego are worth at least £20 usually on the £100 plus spend plus TCB and Lego VIP Points so doesn't make this JL Price that great IMO.
Sorry, this looks horrible.

What’s GWP? The VIP points? You get a 1,000 points for buying this which equates to £5 off another purchase later. Not that great. As for the train going for free at the moment, I currently have that up for sale on eBay for £30 with no takers yet. So for the hassle, buying from John Lewis is definitely the better option. I’m very tempted at £110 but I have so many set unopened including Batmobile and Saturn V, I’ll give this a miss I think 😬

Depends. I've got kits from China that are spot on.

You have to go for the reputable sellers and not just the AliExpress randoms.

Both of the Porsche builds 42096 & 42056 come in bags but not numbered or in any specific order relevent to the manual. I definitely feel your pain on this one. That night I found out exactly how many plastic containers we have stored in the kitchen cupboards.

Thankfully the Bugatti bags are numbered!
