Good price but it has been cheaper; £220 at Smyths last year

If it WAS cheaper, how about finding us a deal for a time machine to go back last year for that price?
Nah if you have a time machine you need to go back to the first day it was on preorder at shop lego. They honoured all the preorders at £199.99 misprice

OP did say that they can't remember it ever being cheaper. I think silla was just pointing out it had been based on what the OP wrote.
That's no moon...

I've never seen the point of Lego. It's unbelievably fiddly and pieces fall off it when it's lifted. How could a child play with this set which would be great if only it wasn't Lego. Am I missing something.

I am going to get this....BUT I am going to stick some 4'x2' timber across the thermal exhaust port.....that will stop the rebel scum.

Yes - this is not meant for kids, it's for rich sci-fi fans I would love this set..but I refuse to pay £200+ for lego, I just can't get my head around it being so expensive even with all the pieces etc. Way way way overpriced.

Its because lego have to pay licencing in order to sell these - and that aint cheap! Then they also want some profit. For some strange reason...

yes your imagination and fun genes!

OP heat added. I so want this
I bought this for my son two Christmases ago, he wanted this so bad he even tried saving his own money for a year to buy it.
The best Christmas present I think he's ever had and the reaction was amazing, so not just for adult sci fi fans.
I'm surprised this is still on sale as the longest production runs are usually 2 years max and this has been going for about 4 now, so if you were thinking of getting it now would be the time.

I think this could be a good investment as I bet in a few years this would be £1000+ the taj mahal set was about £180 and now sells over £1000

I would probably get a better return on buying this and putting it away into storage for a few years than my ISA.

Plus I could play....i mean build and inspect it before hand.
It does look great but I've not bought Lego for at least 30 years now so shelling out a weeks pay doesn't overly appeal LOL... Unless of course the super laser actually works? Then it's a snip

Good job missing the point and jumping down the guy's throat. He was clearly responding to the OP's comment that he thinks it's the cheapest it's ever been.
Damn it, I'd have xploded with excitement on Christmas day if I'd got this.

And that B2TF car? BOOOOOOOM!
I also got this from Smyths with cashback as well worked out about £210. Smyths do there 20% off everything weekends all the time so no time machine needed, just some patience.

I genuinely think that the buying lego to resell boat has sailed. Must be thousands of these being held for resale, fair enough if you pay half price for the Lego, but I strongly doubt this set will be making you any real money any time soon.

Good deal, I got it is the Smyths deal.

However don't forget 5% Topcashback and 5% back in Lego VIP Points, also you get some form of free polybag with the promotion.

Can't decide whether to get the X Wing, I think it'll work out cheaper in the Argos 3 for 2, but would need 2 people to chip in. .

added heat. The price on the super star destroyer is also very good. I built mine at the start of the year. It was one heck of a build. It now takes up an entire desk.............worth every penny

Don't these kits take the creativity out of Lego?
http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/lego-no.jpg
Investment on this set is difficult to predict. This has been around for so long so there's been a chance for many many Lego collectors to stash away an extra few to resell, so the market should have quite a few for resale after it's retired. I also think many felt it will go the same way as the Falcon but because of many buying this set for this reason - this should stop this. I think you may get a £100 or £200 profit in a few years time but is it worth tying up this amount of money for that long?
Must buy.

Not necessarily. What's stopping you from making something else with the parts other than a lack of imagination?

5% quidco too

Going to get for my son

Most of his lego sets are worth more now tan when we bought them.

Crazy. I wish I had these when I was 8.
I think its important I clarify I would be buying this item as a SUPER fan of both lego and Star wars first, not to make a couple of quid. Lego and Star Wars go together like a Beetroot and cheese sandwich....AMAZING, if you have had one you will know where I am coming from!

Really awesome set!
My GF got one on eBay which was listed as 100% complete. Turns out it had less than half the minifigs, and loads of missing pieces, so she got as far as the top floor by improvising with other spares and had to give up, so it's been sat in an incomplete state in the sitting room for the past 4 months. (got a massive refund from the seller of course, as that was bang out of order!)
Is it fully armed and operational?
