Pleasantly surprised to see Lego have reduced the price of the Death Star (along with select other SW Lego sets) by 10%.
Not as good as the 40% they'll be doing on some sets but, still this wasnt expected to go on offer.

You're missing the point - most people who buy this aren't buying it for their kids!

Is it fully functional? Are the exhaust ports fixed?

Id be very surprised if many people who have this, let their kids anywhere near it! This is definitely more of the adult collectors Lego :).

Oh I expect cold votes from the "£3 for a lego person" people lol but, as long as it helps someone I'm not bothered :).

I noticed that dropped the Y-Wing from £65 down to £49, making it illegible for the R2-D2 polybag. Cheeky.

Good discount but still can't justify the mark up from the previous set when so little has changed

Lego official site is a total rip off and their points scheme sucks no wonder folk use other sites before them selling over inflated prices then give folk measly Points offers and pathetic % off which brings the prices down to the avridge or the same as some competitor sites. a few days ago that death star was earning a person 3 x points (bonus considered as discount) which would have basicly worked out the same price as the sale price or an even better return. a £40 Discount off a £400 aimed at 14 year olds+ but the key word being £400 and 14 year olds + com'on Lego wtf are you's doing?

I paid £200+ for a (Discontinued) Ewok Village last week very good value for money even though half the mini figures can be found n other sets which makes it a bit less exclusive Lego need to stop ripping people off by recycling Parts of old sets and mini figures into various newer sets or newer versions of old sets it's a total scam.

Again Lego wtf are you's doing?

No, you have to watch out for fleets of Lego X-wings...

this will be £320 in the usual Smyths September sale.

I did consider that it may be 20% off when Smyths do their offer in September but, there's no guarantee Smyths will still be selling it then. I'd think they would still stock it but, it seems unlikely to be an item they'd sell a lot of generally. Now that I think about it I don't actually remember seeing it in my local Smyths at all and it's a big box to miss.

meh, so you can't witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battle station. I'm out :(.

The previous set was £280 I think. I got it for a little less than that. This new set is basically the same but the RRP has gone up to over £400!!!

I dread to think of the new price for the rumoured rerelease of the UCS Falcon, which was £350 I think on first release (not that long ago). I saw a potential price of $800, so expect around £700, a doubling from the previous release. Crazy prices these days.

id expect the real death star for that price!,

possibly the best deal around, but is anyone actually spending that much on lego?

the words adult and Lego in the same sentence seem quite unusual

Definitely becoming more common.
Suppose a bit like gaming, theres still some people who think gaming is just for kids. Despite there being 18 rated games. Likewise there are Lego sets which are expensive and more for adults, like this set, and other sets which are marked as Expert/16+ with the Volkswagen T1 Camper Van being one of those sets.

Nah, UCS sets like this and the Hoth Set are definitely for the kids... I love SW lego and have quite a few sets but these giant playsets are of no interest to me.

Same, I've just ordered the UCS Snowspeeder, cant wait for it to come. The only UCS Deathstar I'd consider buying is the Death Star 2 (10143), these play sets dont interest me at all.

You just haven't learned how to use the Lego shop to your own advantage. I only ever buy when they have discounted items, and have earned some pretty good freebies cos their points.

You also haven't learned what a comma is.

As much as this is a good deal based on current prices etc. I feel its a rubbish Lego set... even based on its just a rehash of the last one but with improved looks and bricks in certain places.

It's just too childish.. and as has been pointed out who is spending nearly £400 on one toy for a child is crazy.

Don't forget this is also a prop in the Spiderman: Homecoming trailer...

Be a cheap-ass and buy the Lepin version. I took a chance on the Falcon for £32 and it is amazingly close to Lego quality (which I feel is falling, given the newer plastic doesn't have the same feel or weight to me). I actually prefer the Lepin stuff for my Falcon as it's got a cleaner look without the Lego logo on every piece. I'll also let it be used a 'toy' since it only £30 rather than £130.

I bought this for my 9/10 year old son as he refused to spend his pocket money for ages or have sweets to save up for it and at the time LEGO never kept a set alive for more than 2 years before retiring it and I didn't want to see him that disappointed after trying so hard.
That was about 5 years ago and it's still in his bedroom proudly presented now.

Not anymore!
It's adults with disposable cash that have pushed these sets way out of reach of the kids.
Too many childish adults happy to pay 300 plus for what is in escence a child's toy has made it easy for Lego to start pricing smaller sets at 50 pounds or more. Most kids can never afford that and I think that's a real shame.
