bought!

£17/£18 in Argos and Tesco which makes smyths original price quite steep. Also Tesco has a 3 for 2 on toys coming up in a few days

Its still £29.99 at Toys R Us and Lego... So £29.99 is the RRP... So still a great deal if your kids are into Lego Marvel. The future tesco deal sounds great though. Make sure you post it when you get it :-)

No..... the "RRP" as you put it is irrelevant if multiple retailers have had the item for an extensive period for only a couple of pounds more.

I picked one up for £12 effective in the Argos 3-for-2.

Just making it clear to others that the saving is not as big as it appears that's all.

Great.. thanks for your help with the info. Hey everyone, if you pop over to argos you can pick it up for the sale price of £17.99. More expensive than this deal but people seem to be pointing out this is a poor deals due to the fact it is on sale at 2 other places for more money. amazing!!! Its not on the 3 for 2 anymore, so if you have anymore wisdom to dish out please go ahead. I'll be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting... just saying ;-)

I'm sorry to hear that you can't grasp the concept that if something has recently been cheaper it might be wise to wait a little and see if it is that price again.

Also as I am sure you can tell we are also pointing out that the "£30 to £15" reduction is not as it seems, since the item has been £18 more or less since release at various retailers, and indeed less than £15 very recently.

Just helping out other HUKD'ers with the info. Take it or leave it it really makes no difference to me.

This reminds me of the person arguing recently that their "2gb for £10" SIM deal was worthwhile even when the previous week there had been a "4gb for 60p" deal (which comes up every 2-4 months on rotation). My advice - if the item has very recently been cheaper then wait around it will be cheaper again.

Good money saving is about carefully considering purchases, looking at price history and so on. Not being fooled by "wow looks it's half price" banners when that's simply not the case.

Bottom line it's a decent price - with the set retiring soon. :-)

True it's retiring soon, and it's been around this price ever since release, and in fact cheaper very recently.

Thanks OP for the heads up. Heated

I keep an eye on my Lego and this is a pretty good price - this set has been holding around £19-£23 for a while now (certainly on Amazon). Toys R Us definitely extracting the urine with their £29.99 price but they probably have some other offers on Lego right now which when combine may bring the price down. Good spot OP, have some heat.

Thank goodness. What a delight it would be if you were able to point out a single thing I have said which is rubbish - except you can't because all I have done is point out some facts to help other HUKD'ers - hence your entirely unsurprising slide into petty insults and rudeness. Maybe your "everyone else" will come to your rescue and point out which of the facts I posted are "rubbish"?!

Best wishes for the future and well done for taking on board so eloquently my main point, which is that this set is £18 in loads of places and has been available for as low as £12, so £15 is not a bargain price, it's ballpark normal and can be beaten. "Rubbish" indeed.

It's been £18 for months on Argos..... have you tried the Brickset price tracker??

I was looking at this set last month in Argos and I swear it was £23 - that was when they were doing an 'offer' on Lego as well I remember cos there was another set about the same price and I looked at both. I missed it on Amazon for £19.99 at the same time though. Happy with £14.99.

Will check out the Brickset tracker - I haven't looked at that site for ages, didn't even know they had one!

You can look at discounts on individual shopping sites or by removing the filter on a store you can see ALL discounts across all major stores at a glance. I don't know if it updates immediately or hourly or daily, but it's great to spot bargains as they appear. BUT an eye is also needed on voucher codes, 3 for 2 etc. which also have an effect. It compares to the Brickset list price from Lego, as we know these are a guide only in that some sets tend to only sell at or close to the list price, whereas others like this one are widely discounted.

Also they have an Amazon price checker to scan set prices across all the major Euro Amazons, I've picked up a few random great prices when say Amazon.de do a big price cut on an item, and postage can be surprisingly minimal. Plus occasionally a set that has become "rare" / unavailable in the UK can sometimes be found with loads of stock and at a cheaper price in say France. Although this Brexit nonsense has cut the value of the pound so it's not as good as it was.

Yet more rubbish from me.....!

Oohhhh and I should have said, watch out for Argos price differences online and instore. They definitely have different prices more often now. This can go both ways e.g. Displayed price in store can be higher or lower than online.

Thanks matey. When Argos last did a 3 for 2 I worked out I could get the same 3 items for LESS on Amazon. Always worth digging into these offers, much like Black Friday 'deals'.

Brilliant set this well worth more than £20, great build and fantastic minifigures

Just an update for you. £11.39 when part of Tesco 3 for 2. As I said, no point buying at the OP's price, it will be cheaper very soon, and here we are - it is.
