That price is mental.

Nothing personal; but wouldn't it be a good idea if someone created a checklist of comments (e.g. who would pay this for bits of plastic?; you can get it for a fraction of the price from such-and-such in China) so that when one of these deals comes up people can save the effort of typing by just choosing from the checklist.

Debating doing this or selling a kidney haha. Cheap price considering the rrp and the size of the set but so expensive still

I agree, it's very expensive but having seen it built, and the fact it's deemed to be the biggest set ever, this is a good price and it will hold its value long term in my opinion.

Don't expect the box to be in good condition. I picked up the UCS Slave I from Smyths, and the box was battered and damaged, with leftovers from removed sales labels that should never have been stuck to a box like that. I asked for another, and after about 10 minutes they finally came back with the only other one they had, which was very marginally better.
Lego is for adults that can't do DIY and fix cars.

Who am I kidding, I'd love to build that! Good job I've got kids as an excuse!

Put in a coffee tablet like in those pics and it'll be in the Tate Modern in a few years time. Much rather that than a Tracy Emin or Damian Hirst 'work of art'.
If you get big LEGO sets delivered from Smyths they're often in the outer cardboard LEGO box
Investment. Price will be over 1k as soon as they stop making them.
Excellent find, I was just talking about ordering it if the price dropped below £600. Woke up this morning to this deal, ordered straight away and collecting it later

Those days are gone unfortunately. It will rise a little but I think your 1k estimate is a fair bit of where the price will actually settle.

Aren't most toys plastic? And food packaging? And carrier bags?

Not sure why you're complaining particularly about Lego.

So aren't those things bigger fish to fry than some Lego? It's not like it's a one use product that you throw away straight away. People keep Lego for years; I've still got my Lego from when I was a kid. And if they don't want it anymore they don't throw it away - they pass it on to younger generations or sell it.

Sorry, rant over.

Does anyone know if its best biting at this price? Or waiting for the lego double rewards thing?

I want to purchase this but not sure whether to wait for the lego thing, as i heard thats better? But ive never purchased anything from lego before

Thank you

I'd rather the purchasers of this lunacy give us all their contact details because they are the dumbest (not to mention emotionally under-developed and childish) consumers in the book. Selling overpriced tat to them would be like taking candy off a baby.

That's an expensive lump of plastic!!
I want this so much!
Just need to

1) Persuade the wife
2) Find a suitable coffee table to house it
3) Pay for it

Of these I suspect the biggest barrier will by far be the first one, but here's hoping! (Off to buy flowers and chocolates...)

Can't get it for a fraction now that Lepin has been shut down
Still too expensive
But a great deal

TBH I'd probably bite at this price, but its hard to say for sure.
The double rewards are worth about 10% (off a future lego purchase). Theres also some free gifts that might be worth another £20 on e-bay (dunno). You can get a 3% quidco or 6% Topcashback from Lego. I've just noticed that Topcashback are saying that discounts will be up to 20% at Lego.com on SOME star wars sets.

I'd say its unlikely that Lego will discount this set in their May 4th deal (more likely to be the UCS Y-Wing) - but its not impossible, especially seeing other retailers offering this at a discount.

The clone Lego, even Lepin is terrible quality. I know this from experience.
