Lego and Christmas two of my favourite things.. Thanks heat added

Just need to find the power pack at a reasonable price and this will be rolling round my tree this year - Lego seems to be the cheapest for that too

What parts are needed, is it better to buy pack? Amazon currently £24.25, cheaper than Lego store

I think you need 88002 which is the motor and 8878 which is the battery pack - unless you have another powered Lego train. But I'm just going off what I've briefly read. You may be able to find a different power solution - if it's cheaper let me know

Oohhhhh yeeeaaaahhhh!

Thank you OP a million times for the heads-up. Used GB10 and £10 VIP points to take it to £50 which I think is excellent for what surely will be a sell-out item this Christmas. Plus all that extra track woohoo it's my Christmas present and the kids will love it too.

Thanks OP BRILLIANT!! what a cracking set

Thanks - although the Mrs will no doubt wonder why....!

Thanks, just ordered, used my £5 in VIP points too, was going to wait till October 3rd to get the London Bus free, but can't pass up £10 off

Almost £50 for the rechargeable battery pack oO

Would 88000 not be better (though you have the cost of batteries on top), only £11.99 for this one ?

Loyalty card similar to Tesco Clubcard or Nectar.

Lego's way of encouraging purchases direct from their site, which 9 times out of 10 is more expensive than the items can be found elsewhere. BUT for exclusive sets, less mass-market items and their sales which sometimes include different sets to sales elsewhere, the points add up with occasional purchases.

It's a pretty good conversion rate. £1=1 point and then 100 points = £5 off. So effectively a 5% return which makes the Lego shop cheapest for sets that are not discounted anywhere.

Wow. We sometimes wait for the Christmas freebie too, but those elves are creepy. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks. Almost ordered this last night on my partners account but, I got a VIP card at the Lego shop which wasnt linked to an account. Glad I hadnt done it because completely forgot about the £10 off :D.

I forgot the 10 quid too thanks for reminding me was going to wait for the Christmas freebie but worried this one might sell out before Christmas

Thanks.

Thanks! I managed to sign up to VIP without buying anything first.

It must have been what 15yrs since the last Winter Train set? This is very unimaginative and a bit of a reproduction in truth. Very little effort in this, very uninspired. It really looks like a set made 15yrs ago. So disappointed, was hoping for something that would compliment the Lego North Pole village set with Santa, elves, reindeers etc. This should have been so much better. It is dull, lacking play features, lacking detail. It is not as cohesive as should have been either with existing winter sets.

Not like Lego to disappoint with winter theme sets, but well they really have in my opinion here.

Don't buy it then!

My little ones and I will love and cherish it as a beautiful example of Lego almost as an art form.

Honestly I can't believe anyone could be so damning of what is a lovely set!

You need the same parts as are found in any recent Lego Train Set. Best bet is to either use your parts out of 60051 if you already have it, OR to keep an eye out for it being ~£60, which it is every now and then. Seems little point forking out £40+ for the bits when you can get a whole train set and track for £60 that includes what you need

I have joined the VIP program, but it says added to wish list, how can I use the £10 off ???

Should i get LEGO City 60051 or Lego winter holiday train?
Lego city includes the power function and Lego winter none..... Need to do the maths

Hahaha EASY! Both Then you've got the fast train and steam train angles covered, plenty of track and you can swap the power functions between them. 60051 every now and then can be found for about £60 so don't get it if it's anything more than £70.

Have you logged into your VIP account after joining?

To get the £10 off add promo code GB10 at basket stage.
