Bush tat has he same needle as the majority of sub £100 players. Played my records on anything in the 80's and sound great today.

VERY few 1980's record players would have had ceramic pickups; even my mums £89.99 Philips music centre had a (very basic) MM pick-up; in fact, you could buy the SoundBurger portable record player or a weird VW minibus model that literally drove around the record, and both had better pickups than the current crop of cheap 'n nasty players.
I started the 1980's with a basic Pioneer record player, migrated to a Dual CS505 in 1983 and finished the decade with a Manticore Mantra/Scorpio/Ortophon OM10 that was later upgraded to the legendary RB300/Ortophon MC20Super.
