Not a bad deal on a basic entry laptop, saving £40 on normal price, would probably be good as a first PC for school or college or to surf the net.

Woefully slow even using the most basic programs and runs out of storage for Windows updates. Can verify this as bought 2 for the kids school work..
Get one with 64GB at least for Windows updates.
Like this Linx here, a good budget laptop, has Full-HD resolutions, IPS display lightweight and all Aluminium. Not bad for £180.

True unsure about this now. If I put 500gb external hard drive to it would this help the laptop ie with programs keep it running OK.?

beat me to it..
These types of laptops do not have expandable storage. In fact its likely the storage is soldered directly to the motherboard. You'd need to use an external drive.

No, you'll need something better for Fortnite.

Tesco Outlet on eBay have a couple of Acer N4200 CPU ones. A bit more expensive but with 15% off. Both have similarly slow eMMC memory though and no upgrade to M.2 SSD possible but a way better CPU. Still not sure about them for all but the most casual gaming.

The Pentium 64GB storage option is £180 at ebuyer and the 64GB Celeron model was £150 last week - can't find on website now so may be (temporary) out of stock.

Thanks, I no that can't upgrade the memory on the laptop itself was thinking maybe a 128gb sd card and a 500gb external Hdd. But when it comes to window updates etc can I then use the other storage option to save to that instead of clogging the internal memory if that makes sense. Thanks

Whilst it is possible to get away with 32gb You will always be on the edge if running out is space and struggling to get a swap disk going. I have a Linx 7” 32gb (1gb RAM) which I picked up for a bit of a novelty under £30 a free years back, paired it with a small Bluetooth keyboard and it’s actually a usable PC for typing on a train or simple browsing, but the 32gb is a struggle. If u can, go for 64gb.
I was after a bargain and bought one of these earlier this year. It went back after half an hour's use. I was always sceptical about the (apparently) serious computer users on here who rubbish cheap machines, but this one was just useless.
I could not get a similar 32gb machine to update correctly. I would think 64gb is the minimum nowadays...
It really struggles with Windows 10 (what doesn't), I suggest running Linux on it as use for browsing and email only. Running this slow-coach out of the box will do your head in very quickly, you get what you pay for and it's cheap for a reason. Cooling added.

Its going to cost at least £500 to get a laptop capable of playing games like fortnite and even then, it would be a lower range model, to be honest i wouldnt bother buy him a ps4 or xbox one to play games

You would be better off buying a used i5 desktop and getting a gtx1050 as that would cost around £200 a laptop will struggle unless over £350+ even then it's a less clear picture

eMMC can vary between being totally abysmal to fast. If there is no SSD slot you have to be even more wary.
Yes, the CPU is slow, but still better than the CPUs that are more based on Atom.

Has the needed SD slot.

I think it will be really really slow even for the most basic tasks. It's like paying £140 odd of your hard earned money to someone else as a payment to torture you a little bit every single day for a few years
Don't waste your money - just my humble opinion.

Would you trust an American company? The Americans spy on their allies - remember them bugging the Germans to get to know their allies better?

These Americans walk in to soverigtn countries, execute a man and dump in the sea. They rendition.

Why do you trust the Chinese less than the West?

Most laptops capable of running that acceptably will be £500+. This machine is fine for light productivity and browsing but the lack of storage will be frustrating, 64GB is really the minimum for Windows today.
agree, 64gb is minimum for Windows 10 or have problems with updates.

I have a Linx 10" Tablet (Win 10) and had the 7" version. Nice piece of kit, and a pleasure (the 10") to use, that said I'm not a "Gamer", and so only use them fer everyday (not overly demanding) stuff. AVG free Anti virus does the job , but as it's windows (as with my Laptops) Defender's fine, but please be advised Nicolas, I'm no geek

Laptop for proper gaming is a struggle if your budget is less than 400 quid. You need at least mx150 to properly run games if your son never get used to 60 fps then it will be okay. Personally, since I'm used to 60 fps for shooting game anything below that will be annoying. I spend roughly about 600 pound for my laptop and another 400 pound for desktop to game comfortably

I trust China more than US. Since, China at least have less history of fucking other countries profusely
I have one of these for writing and very very light work. By that I mean you will need to close every window (including browser tabs) not in use or it will grind to a halt.

I wouldn't touch any laptop with an Atom or Celeron, my 4-5 year old Dell Lattitude is faster than this junk.
