Black Friday deals look like they are in full flow at Currys with up to £300 off these Lenovo IdeaPads which come in like 3 different colours.

They’ve got an i3/1TB at £299 which is a newer gen i3 and a much nicer design than the one I saw at AO last week.

For an extra £100 they have an even newer gen i5 with 128GB SSD storage - this is the one i went for and it has a bigger % off with £300 saving.

Nice to see some SSDs but only 128GB which is a bit on the small side. And only 4GB RAM. Not very good really.

Which is why they're £299 and not £399 or £499

At this price, there's not many new machines with more than 4GB RAM - seems to be a bit backward from where we were a few years back.

Not full hd by the look of it either

i3 is decent

Was £699! What a joke.
OP the one you went for is not even Full-HD.

And I'm very suspicious of you.

700£ for such spec is a joke. 400£ pound is about the right price for it without a discount

Also in there last post they said "I got the ASUS UX430 for £719 which is a total saving of £130" plus they apparently bought this one.
The OP seems to really like Currys PC World or they're one of the Chimps that work there

Anyone know if the 4Gb RAM can be swapped out on these machines?

I bought the 300 model last year for (for £300 - 10% quidco) my son for the same price, but it had a full HD screen. The included HDD was the slowest thing ever - it was pretty much unusable at doing anything useful e.g. Unity development until I put an SSD into it. I'd advise to spend the extra £100 on the SSD model as the CPU is 50% faster, it has a full HD screen etc.

I find the best way to check this is to use the Crucial memory checker with the model you need.

The basic £299 model shows that there's just 1 slot, but it can take a max of 16GB.

Then you have their bully tactics to get you to add everything on or in 12 months your laptops as good as dead

What! you mean you really don't need Norton anti virus, A recovery memory stick,a Laser printer scanner and spare toner cartridge and a Gold plated hdmi lead plus extended warranty on all these items to go with it? Surely you do?

I think "gaming laptop" and "not expensive" do not go together ...

Just purchased the 320 i5 with 128GB SSD yesterday for my daughter. This laptop is very fast and at £400 is a good deal. You really do not need any more than 4GB ram unless rendering videos.
Hot for me.

Be very careful buying lenovo. We bought one from John Lewis with 3 year warranty last black Friday.
A month ago one of the hinges went. John Lewis sent it to Lenovo to be fixed and they are claiming it is accidental damage (definitely not, definitely a design flaw) and want £60 to fix it.
