Fabulous tab.. just upgraded to Android 4.4.2... updates provided by Lenovo itself.. just go to Settings - > About Phone -> System Update and it will download the latest updates.. do this multiple times to get up to the latest version of android.. the build date is 14th Aug 2014.. can't ask for more..

suggest you read forums before update to 4.4 as my lenovo 7" s5000 has felt a little slower since the update. but otherwise great

Hi. Does this tablet come with an hdmi or mini hdmi socket so I could plug it into my TV?

Picked one up at Chiswick. Labelled as £79.99 on the shelf. Impressed so far. 2 updates so far to 4.4.2 and now rooting. Very light, thin and a nice screen with only slightly less clarity that my Nexus 7 2012 due to the extra screen size. A bargain at the price it would seem.

ummm.... ether you need a maths lesson or i do?

Mediocre tablet, decent software, good price. But I would only get it for a kid or for occasional use - otherwise it is bound to get annoying at some point.

You do. Price without VAT is 100%. Price with VAT is 120%. 20/120 = 1/6.

The lenovo T+Cs aren't much clearer - infact contradict themsleves:

1) 20 % of the gross sale price

2) example £250 on £1500 purchase (16.7%)

That was a good lesson, you even showed your workings!! full marks!

Edgeware (right next to tube station) had 3 display boxes as of yesterday evening. Right at the back of the store.

I saw the offer yesterday on here but I have the Nook HD+ it has a much better display (although this seems to be decent enough) and screen size is slightly bigger. The Lenovo is quad core though which is better than the Nook which is dual.

Voted hot.

Just got one from Sainsburys Osmaston road Derby. The displayed price was £129 with a £20 Sainsburys voucher.

When it scanned at £79 the cashier said he could not give me the voucher as the price had already been discounted by £50
Might be worth a try ...............

Does anyone know if this is better than the Asus Memopad 173X HD 7 (apart from the extra inch) as I got one of these when they were on offer from Tesco but its gone faulty in less than one year and I can either get my £60 back or have a replacement - I dont really need both of these tablets

What absolute tosh, I have this and use it every day and has performed exceptionally well with anything ive asked it to do. At that price its an absolute bargain and you will not be disappointed with build quality or performance unless you're a geek who measures everything in micro seconds

My nearest major store didn't have any in but they directed me to another who apparently had 4 in stock (Wednesfield, Wolverhampton). Bought one, thanks, heated. Hope to claim VAT back when the claim form "opens on 19th September 2014 so please come back then to submit your online cashback claim."

Leaving a note here so I can find it later.

A Chromecast is a HDMI device it plugs in to your TV/monitor via HDMI, and then you connect it to your wifi network, once connected any devices on that network that can stream to a Chromecast can stream to it. A Chromecast does very little without something to stream to it, it does not have apps or much or any on screen interface/menus etc. A Chromecast can also mirror compatible smartphones/tablets display to a monitor or TV.

wow must be thick always belived 20% = 1/5 ho well

wow must be thick always belived 20% = 1/5 ho well

Sigh....

VAT is 20% - i.e. 1/5

Adding VAT on? - add 1/5

Taking VAT off? - take off 1/6 ('cos the total with VAT is 1/5 bigger than 5/5 - which makes 6/5)

Simples

VAT is 20%, therefore a fifth............I stand to be corrected, lol

Lol it's definitely u. Item being sold for £10 ex vat costs £12 with VAT. So VAT is £2 which is a sixth of sticker price £12

Just picked up this, my first tablet. Haven't used it yet but looks good.

There's a couple still left at the Oldham Sainsburys

Only used it a day but this is harsh. I've had many cheap Chinese tablets in the past until I gave up and went for a Nexus. This is far from those. Apart from the lack of root on the latest firmware it's excellent so far. Who doesn't use a tablet only for "occasional" use anyway? I'd hate to be stuck on any tablet all day.

ws007

Well it is, but that's not exactly what you are calculating is this case. VAT is 20% added onto the price (making the price you pay 120% of the original). If you want to calculate the VAT portion of a price with VAT all ready added on then you need to multiply by 20/120 which is the same as dividing by 6.

This is a good tablet. My wife had a faulty Playbook and exchanged for one of these 3 weeks ago. We really liked the playbook but this tablet is much quicker and the apps available are obviously much wider ranging. I had to go get one of these for myself at this price. Also updates to Android 4.4.2.
