This is not sold by Lenovo. It's sold by "Digital River", the same company uses the name "Canon UK" on ebay.

Good or bad?
mixed reviews.
whats the main difference this and the T series. i currently have a T400 and that is a solid piece of kit.
If you have a T400 with 4Gb ram and Win8 then I don't really see the need to upgrade to this..unless you are finding the CPU lacking, it's not i3 but for £80!
How does this compare in performance to the AMD E2-1800 in the 13" ThinkPad Edge E335 posted over the last few weeks?

Ideally I'm after a 13", but might settle for this as it's currently cheaper and has a few extras compared to the E335.

The E420s is MUCH better. The performance of the AMD E2-1800 is quite low, might even struggle with HD video if you're doing other things in the background.

Thanks, ordered.

The price went up by £3 at checkout, and I don't expect TCB will track as I think that's for the main Lenovo store, but can't grumble at the price

Oh yes, that must be the VAT on top of the delivery. Mine has tracked, not sure if it will go through though.

When you get yours if you'd post back on the condition of your device that would be great. Mine has some light scratches... tried contacting Lenovo to see if there's an explanation but they haven't said anything other than offering me to send it back. I'm starting to wonder if the one I received is refurbished or something, but I don't know. I love the device though; the keyboard alone is excellent.

Digital River is the company that handles card transactions for loads of companies... so this is sold by Lenovo.

Will do. Given the variety of terms they use to describe their products (New, redistributed, refurbished, etc.), I'm hoping that "new" actually means "new"!
Just received mine (sooner than expected); seems to be new as described. Certainly no marks that I can see, and apart from the outer box looking like it had been opened, no different than you'd expect from the main store. I'm not sure how much the marks bother you but it's well worth talking to Lenovo again.

Haven't turned it on yet, but so far very happy. Thanks again for posting the deal.

Ah perhaps I received a refurbished unit then. I'll have to chase it up with Lenovo. Overall I'm pleased with the device though... I can't imagine using a laptop other than a ThinkPad now it's just that good. I never thought I'd use the trackpoint and the buttons but actually they are excellent... especially if you use your device in bed or in positions where using the trackpad isn't going to work so well.
Quick question: does yours have Bluetooth?

The Lenovo product page says it should, but I can't find any evidence on mine. There's no Bluetooth module in the device list.
Actually, it doesn't matter. The entire thing has just bricked itself. Power light, but nothing else. Won't even boot into BIOS.

Back to Lenovo it is. Sigh. Hope you have better luck with yours.
Mine arrived yesterday I'm very happy with it, build quality feels good.
Nice and fast now I've replaced the hard drive with an SSD :-)

Have you tried keeping your hand down on the power button to force it to shut down?

Sorry for late reply.

No worries. I actually had to keep doing that yesterday. Strangely enough, today it booted without issue. Hooray.

Still not finding Bluetooth though.

Happened to me once but I think it was because I opened/closed the lid while putting the device to sleep or something... can't remember exactly. Force shut down fixed it.

Mine doesn't have Bluetooth either, but I don't need it anyway.

I don't often need it, but I do find it handy at times. Strangely enough I've discovered it does have Bluetooth (my phone can 'see' it), even though I can't get it working. That's good enough for now - I'll worry about getting it working another time - I was just trying to check it actually had the features described on the spec list.

Very impressed with the keyboard, the touchpad, and all the little ThinkPad features such as the light and trackpoint. Provided that boot issue was a one-off, I think I'll be very happy with this machine.

How wow, I couldn't see anything to suggest it has Bluetooth in the device manager. I'm just so busy at the moment, but I'll have a look when I have some time and get back to you.

Sorry about not getting back to you on this... did you find the bluetooth? Pretty sure it doesn't exist.

Sorry didn't get back to you sooner. I've turned on bluetooth on my phone and can't see anything. Are you sure you're seeing the Thinkpad and not another device you have? What's the name of the device?

Just seen your reply; the ThinkPad definitely has Bluetooth! I had to manually add the Bluetooth service to the list of start-up services for Windows to see it. It's difficult to configure and isn't very reliable. But it's now permanently on (can't turn it off) and I can stream to my Bluetooth speaker (provided I add the thing as a new device every time).

Lenovo Support were particularly poor. "Yes, it has Bluetooth. No, we don't have drivers."

Not the prettiest machines, but I've always had great luck with this brand.

The e420 is a bit bulky, but the e420s is very nice looking in my opinion, and a good size/weight.

Ok just had a quick look now. If you press F9 you will get "Wireless Radios" options. You will find the Bluetooth switch under "Individual control".
