Lenovo explorer mixed Reality headset and motion controllers - £199.99 @ Lenovo

Not as good as the previous £150 deal. But this is the best price I've found since (apart from eBay sellers, who I presume bought from the last deal to sell on for a profit judging by the influx of new sealed units on eBay over the last week or so)

It's a shame if they are just being sold for a profit. It's a fantastic piece of tech!

I've bought one for my son's Xmas pressie, can't wait to try it out Christmas day, I already own a Rift so will see how it compares
I'm delighted with my explorer. I'm so impressed. I've been playing Elite Dangerous, Assetto Corsa, Rez etc. Worth every penny of the £150 I paid and I think the £200 it is now
The reviews seem to all say it's the best one out of all the mixed Reality headsets.
Is it better than the Samsung hmd odyssey+ ?

No, the specs are alot better on the Samsung, but then it is about 3 times the price at the moment
That is true

Not even close. The washed out LCD screens look terrible once you've looked at amoled screens, the field of view on the Lenovo is also poor, it's like looking through a toilet roll, then you have the tiny sweet point to top it off. If you haven't tried VR before you may well be impressed by the Lenovo.

I bagged an original Odyssey for £275 from Amazon.com and it is by far the best headset i've used. Might pick up a + when i'm in the US if they go back on offer.

I wouldn't pay £200 for the Lenovo.

I paid £160 for mine off eBay via best offer option. certainly wasn't gonna more than that. It's only going to be for my 10 year old son so he doesn't damage my rift, lol

That's a good price for it, and a 10yr old will be very impressed. You'll notice the difference in the FOV and colours when you compare it to your Rift. The resolution and SDE is better on the Lenovo but the quality of the Rift shines.
Hope you never need to do anything about warranty or support with this.

Lenovo/moto are absolutely useless

Looks like a de ent price tho
You need to measure your IPD, the space between your eyes, before getting one of these.

Only the Samsung Odyssey has mechanically adjustable IPD. The other mixed reality headsets are fixed and rely on software which doesn't work for many.
Having had the Rift for while I picked one of these up for a family member for £109 in the Blackfriday sale other week, just be aware you will need to buy a Bluetooth v4 adaptor as doesnt come with one (Picked one up for £6 amazon.co.uk/gp/…8L1 ), and thats what it needs for the hand controllers. Having tested it however I do think it's a excellent product, picture is better than my CV1 Rift, although as already mentioned, can't adjust the eye width which could be a deal breaker for some.

I didn't think about the Bluetooth. Just checked the specs on my motherboard, seems like it has Bluetooth v5 built-in. That's should be fine shouldn't it?

Yea long as it support v4 ya fine, although having the feature isnt always same as having it, my z390 ASrock board for example needs a M2 module to be purchased to plug into the motherboard, so would have still had to buy a seperate adaptor.

Totally agree with this. I bought a HP model last year and couldn’t see properly. Turns out my ipd is out of the range that software correction can reliably deal with. In the end I sold it on....

Yeah I saw the problem with having no ipd adjustment on YouTube reviews. I know I've took a bit of a gamble with that as kids ipd are quite a bit lower than adults. Will see how he gets on with it.

I think it’s quite uncommon for it not to be fine, doesn’t help that I have a large head
WARNING - Bought one of these on the Black Friday deal at £150. BUT It’s arrived with shipping labels stuck directly all over the retail box so it’s useless as a Christmas present ?.

Called customer services who “say” they are sorting it out but with such little time till Xmas I suspect Lenovo have

let themselves and me down badly. Not happy.

Not sure how a label is ruining Christmas for you so much. But just stick another blank label over the top or marker pen?

Why the drama I peeled all the labels off my one, did take about half an hour mind you but the De-Solv it solution helped

Great point. I have tried but they are not the “easy peel” type but the “rip into shreds” type. Seems such a stupid thing to do with an RRP £399 product!
can you use your explorer controllers? Just bought Elite and it asks me to use 360 controller or mouse and keyboard. Is there a mod or something for WMR controller support?

Hairdryer to heat it up, then pull it off easily.
Dab the label against any residue and it will pick it all up easily.
It's really not a big deal.

For what it’s worth, I got the £150 deal and have had to return it because one of the “eyes” wasn’t working. Seemed to be not too uncommon from a Google search so might be worth making sure it works before Xmas so it’s good to go on the 25th

This game only supports joypad, it was never made for vr but morec a add on for those with vr headsets, games like ultrawings does support motion controllers on the other hand.

I thought it might have been someone on here. At least you didn't want stupid money for it like some of the other eBay sellers

Tbh I didn't mind paying that. Hopefully I won't have any issues. I'm gonna set it up Monday when the kids are at school, make sure it works. I'm sure it will like.

I must've missed that one lol
Got these for £149 and they're great.
Tried mine out today, works perfectly, I do prefer my Oculus rift though. There's a few things that disappoint me on the Lenovo. The focus point is extremely small, theres an awful amount of "tunnel vision" and it doesn't fit my face as good as what the rift does.

To buy or not to buy. Cheaper than most places (Scan is pre-order at the same price) but with the recent £149 deals i wonder if we will see more descounts soon. Or even Boxing Day might have a bargain too.

That's y is not worth £199
Just a small update on VR and Elite, they have recently updated it and and it is a lot smoothers to play, but the biggest updated seems to b that in VR, even on the Rift, you can now read the text, i fixed my Rift recently and gave ED another go and yeap, you can now read almost everything, there is the odd bit of really small text that you might need to lean towards in VR, but everything else is can now be read a lot better, so a big bonus here for all us VR users.
