The 8GB SSD is actually just a cache on a normal mechanical hard drive. It's an improvement over a mech' drive....but nowhere near as good/fast as a normal SSD.
Personally, I would sooner have the £20 saving and then put it towards a proper SSD drive!

Yeah, I know. I was on phone so I couldn't be bothered writing all that. But then again, this is also the best price for this laptop now. That amazon deal is not coming back.

Sorry, was a genuine question. Some people like myself do buy laptops cheaper via Ebay..etc that are faulty to repair and sell on. Clearly your friends is in working condition though. How come you want to check the internals of it?
These take 16GB of RAM, with a 256/512GB SSD also makes a solid portable workstation.

I personally wouldn't care about the RAM being soldered. 4GB is all good IMO.
What's the problem with the SSD?

(Unless there is some fundamental hardware design flaw, the Zenbook is a FAR better purchase than this Flex. Full HD screen and better build quality....and a much better processor/SSD combo!)
Just what I needed, frank - mine's not been the same since I let grandpops have a go on it.

Cheers thanks for helping me get a good deal.
Makes my FHD one from Amazon warehouse for £246 look like a stonking deal. Insert time machine pun here...
I bought a laptop from these guys in the spring of this year. Unfortunately it has a problem that ruins the battery. Had one replacement battery already, told them the replacement was now 16% under design capacity after only 6 weeks. Asked for a replacement laptop. Was told that would only happen if within 28 days of purchase. Just told to phone lenovo and they'd repair the laptop. That means being without a laptop for the best part of a month. Really not on. You just don't get the service from this company, so factor that into your decision when looking at the price. I don't think I'd use 'em again.

Ahhhh Windows 95. Now that brings back memories.I still remember discussing with a Currys sales chap the merits of 4MB vs 8MB RAM when running this OS!
1366x768 - at this price I would expect better.

The law just changed which means they can not say that now unfortunately you lucked out buying before October 1st

The new law means they have to replace or refund
please do not buy from this company, if you have any problems you will end up losing your money
Got the red version on clearance from Currys PC World for £279.97. Not sure if still available.

Only had display version left so I took that after they used a few hours to take the demos off.

The build quality on the Flex line isn't outstanding. It isn't bad....but it isn't anything special.
what would you recommend as an alternative ?
