can't seem to find anything better in this price range and screen size.

good deal and heated

Not bad. Was looking at something core m based but new CPUs will be appearing in the autumn.

Just great, bought one of these yesterday at PC World. £430. GRrrrrr

Spec is 4GB ram not 8GB as per the title? Still a good deal, heat added

Oops, must have misread the 8gb flash for 8gb Ram. Have updated it now. Cheers.

Why is this so hot when the Medion S6611T 15.6` touchscreen with dedicated Geforce 740m card and 8GB of main memory is £309 with £10 off voucher.

Medion's reputation hasn't always been wonderful. It now belongs to Lenovo and the products have improved but it's still got that "reputation" to offload.

Because this is a 14, not a 15.6, because this has the 'flex' mode, because this has a two year warranty for a quid, because this is a 'proper' lenovo, because some people don't need the extra power, and prefer battery life.

The lenovo can be used like a big netbook, can the medion?, it's not clear to me from the spec (the screen needs to be able to be folded flat but with the screen outwards.
The medion is bigger! It seems strange maybe but 14" is more desirable. And also lighter and less cumbersome as a netbook

What is the difference between the one at Currys (LENOVO Flex 2 14" Convertible Touchscreen Laptop - Red £349). They both look the same laptop.

Lenovo from memory have only been doing consumer laptops for a short while. So far, there's been no issues with regards to reliability (There were however issues with software that spied on people.. ) so it'll be interesting how things go.

HP consumer laptops aren't as good as their business ones. Though tbf, consumer laptops as a whole generally aren't as good as business laptops!!!

And yeah this is great when it comes to battery life. Chromebooks are usually best for battery life, but what in hell do you do with a Chrome book?

Oh my bad just had a look at hard drive this one is bigger.

Think of a base spec BMW 1 series, and a Hyundai with CD player, electric windows, alloy wheels and aircon

Heads up the i5 version of this has the Full HD screen and SSHD.

The 6 hour battery life, my relative did not get that....around the 5 hour mark is possible, remember to tone down the screen brightness.

I must confess that I rather like the yellow. If I were buying one that's the colour I'd buy.

Not so sure about that, imo, but quite pretty without being a sexist colour and easy to spot in a sea of black

Colours are sexist? That's news to me...

That doesn't look too bad tbf. Sister has a red one, and I initially thought "hmmm" about the colour, but in the flesh, it looks DAMN good! I imagine it's the same for the yellow one!

Perhaps, but it's only relatively recently that pink is seen as a "girls" colour. Historically, pink was for guys, blues were for girls etc... and I say "Wear whatever the hell you like" And tbh, some pink shirts can look really good. My best shirts are purple

I have a pink USB stick somewhere. It was cheaper than the other colours, so why not?

I know it's definitely available here:

The price isn't half bad tbf. Still want my HP elitebook to arrive though!!! Nice and easy to upgrade. I've got a marginally better CPU:

My specs (when I'm done with it any way)

CPU: i5 3320m (2.6Ghz) - slightly better, but with increased power consumption (Maybe £10/year max. Most likely an extra £4/year) Can upgrade to i7
RAM: Crucial 8GB DDR3
Storage: 120GB SSD (5 year warranty) + 500GB HDD
Screen size: 14"
Resolution: 1366*768p
Touchscreen: N/A
Wireless: 802.11 b/g/n
Connectivity (wired): Gigabit Ethernet, telephone line
I/O connectors: USB 2.0 x 3, Mini display port x 1, Display port x 1, eSATA x 1, VGA port x1
Battery life: Claimed to be 9 hours, 15 minutes
Thermal paste: IC Diamond 7
CMOS battery manufacturer: Sanyo
Cost: £321.86

Mostly used, some parts brand new

The Lenovo:

CPU: i5 4210U (1.7Ghz + 2.7GHz turboboost) - slightly worse, but with decreased power consumption No upgrade possible
RAM: 6GB DDR3L - likely to be Hynix
Storage: 500GB SSHD
Screen size: 14"
Resolution: 1920*1080p
Touchscreen: 10 point multitouch
Wireless: 802.11 b/g/n
Connectivity (wired): Gigabit Ethernet
I/O connectors: 2* USB 3.0, USB 2.0 x 1, HDMI x 1
Battery life: Claimed to be 6 hours
Thermal paste: Probs Intel standard thermal paste
CMOS battery manufacturer: Probs some cheaper one
Cost: £430
Brand new

The TP and the battery will probs still be fine, but I think that's just me thinking "Well I've opened up the laptop, I may as well do this and that so I dont have to later on!"

A laptop where you can upgrade the CPU? Fantastic but didn't think this was possible.

Where did you get your laptop from, because that seems a better deal

Pretty much all the "M" CPU's you can upgrade. It's only the "U" ones you can't, but tbh for the price I paid, think it's gonna be cheaper to sell and buy another one! Otherwise, you can buy mobile CPU's from aliexpress (And soe specialist sites in the UK who may not have that ie: OC UK)

Here's where I talked about getting the laptop:

My mum tells me that the laptop has came today!

This is the laptop itself:

I see that there's a HP 8470p on bidding, from Stoke on trent on eBay atm too!
