any one know why this might be?

DVD Palyer does not recognise DVD's

Bought is for my son, and was working fine until you place a dvd into the dvd drive, and it does not recognise any format. Even when downloaded other software, it still does not load.

Ahh.. And it was B50 anyway so this deal is for different series.
Can anyone point out some diferrencies between B and G series? Is it just better build quality?
I was about to buy B50 and now this one seems better...

Should be much hotter, good spot OP. I'd pick Lenovo over Acer.

am using laptop, and honestly, i would not guess it ran with a celeron. speakers are decent, screen is decent at a given angle (not as you move around the room unfortunately, and not when the picture goes dark), keyboard and track pad are too small (and i have tiny hands!), but can easily be remedied with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Window 8.1 is a bit annoying of course (have had to create a new account and sign in about 50x to various MSFT programs - what happened to single sign in?), but other than that, I am happy. Lenovo has some cool data transfer apps too between smartphones/tablet/laptop etc.

Plays dvds well too.

Overall 4/5 for a budget cheap as chips lappy. Might get the equivalent Acer now to compare, as I need another. Agree, it should be hotter!

Deal seems to have ended!:( keep the laptop deals coming!
