am i having a moment... what's so special about this laptop... i would say the samsung posted at 369 is better than this

Intel Graphics and 2GB memory. There are slightly better deals around at the moment for the money

Does anyone know if it has 32 or 64 bit W7 ?

Mmm, looks good really... I think it is between this and the Asus at Comet.

Just bought this:

bestbuy.co.uk/pro…spx

Cashback tracked at £92.02 so price ended up being £507.88. The Samsung Q330 is a high quality ultra portable (less than 2kg) laptop, reminiscent of some of the small Macs in terms of design, with an i3 370M, 4GB RAM and 500GB HD. Had consistently great reviews too.

I'd prefer this toshiba laptop for £400 from Sainsburys.

What is the difference between the Z and G Lenovos? Any difference in build chasis quality?

Yes, thats right, Dabs & BTShop are one and the same (though you will usually find the BT site will charge extra for delivery). I found this out when I spoke to Dabs to query a laptop bundle that was no longer available on the Dabs site, he told me they are the same company and that they use the same warehouse for both Dabs & BT sales and he said the bundle was still available on the BT site (which it was.... except it was more expensive due to the delivery charge).

I would guess with both being Lenovo and within a similar price bracket that they would not be too different in terms of overall build quality.

I was initially tempted to buy the G560, but when I saw the Z560, it just seemed to have more of what I was looking for and yet it was very similar money. The G560 posted has integrated graphics and a 250GB hard drive (5400rpm).

The Z560 deal (see link below) is £8.89 more yet it offers a dedicated graphics card and a faster & larger 320GB (7200rpm) hard drive. Fair enough theres a laptop bag instead of a wireless mouse and it may be worth noting that the processor in this G560 is actually marginally better, but personally I would choose the 350M coupled with a dedicated card and a faster hard drive as being a better option than a 370M with integrated graphics and slower hard drive.

Does this carry audio on the HDMI ?

The lenovo's have a decent build quality IMO and much better than the Dell's from experience. I have purchased a Dell and had problems + the repair service was poor. I also purchased a Lenovo last christmas and all has been fine with it to date, a much superior build quality with branded parts. Can't comment on the Toshiba's.

Hi there, it's instore only, they hardly update the website for computing products. I bought this last Thursday from my local store in Bedford. I've had my eye on it for a couple weeks and noticed it dropped down to £400 from £479 in the past week.

Does anyone think general laptop prices will drop after Christmas?

With VAT going up to 20.0%, I wouldnt take the chance. The dollar has also increased 3% or so against the pound in the last month so you'd think the opposite might happen.
