I am looking for an everyday laptop/note book to replace my pc.
Will this be up to the job?
I have seen a few on here lately is this one of the better ones?
I have a budget of £400 max so could put another 2gb ram in this.
I have been looking at the i3 processors what's the difference between them and this one?
I use internet, publishing and a bit for photographs (editing before getting them printed elsewhere).
Thanks.

Says a bit further down....

3 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
Integrated optical DVD-Rewriter
1 HDMI output for connecting to a compatible HDTV or home theatre receiver for uncompressed digital audio and video via a single cable
Analogue video output: 1 VGA
5-in-1 card reader compatible with MultiMediaCard, Secure Digital card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD-Picture Card
1 headphone/line-out jack (with SPDIF digital audio support), 1 microphone jack
10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet

yeah so maybe a SPECIAL like the Ferrari Acer as I think it DOES NOT have an HDMI checking the specs from the web and other places. This is cheap for this model though :-)

states it had HDMI output and if you look at the picture there's one on the side.
Im tempted by this myself.

When people say everyday, I think they generally just browse the web and create the odd document.

These days, I think ANY laptop (not netbook) will generally do what people need to do (providing they don't want to play non browser based 3d games). The important part is buying a reliable brand, and hopefully finding someone you know who can remove any un-needed software the manufacturer installs that slows things down out of the box. I haven't got experience of any software that Lenovo pre-installs, but I think they're a reliable brand.

TL;DR, Yes.

So would this let me plug a hdmi into the side to put football/iplayer on the tv screen? I assume yes but thought someone could confirm?

Definitely a better deal than the G550!

Yes that's about it - plug in the HDMI and watch whatever you want, Sopcast, iPlayer, Pr)nhub, whatever floats your boat

Hi

I know it is a very similarly specced machine, but do people think that THIS is a better deal, even if it just offers an improved mousepad which apparently could be problematic on the Lenovo? What is Samsung build quality like compared to lower-end Lenovo?

Thanks in advance
